Mallorca: Crossing the Tramuntana | Pure Trails Adventure

Sóller, Illes Balears

Port de Sóller, Sóller, Illes Balears, Espanya

Sat 12th March 2022 - Sat 19th March 2022

Organiser's Description

On our small group running adventure, we set out to run the ancient dry stone way which traverses the impressive Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, spanning the width of the island.

The route is steeped in history as we weave our way among citrus and olive groves, through charming towns where piazzas are crammed with local folk sipping coffee and watching the world go by. Not forgetting the blissful beaches and coves we will run past as well, with the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean glistening away.

Join us on a spectacular trail running journey as we look to cross the Serra de Tramuntana mountains of Mallorca.

Course Details

Trail running the empty GR221 is magnificent and a real surprise when visiting Mallorca. We often associate the island with beautiful beaches and overlook the stunning Tramuntana mountain range that extends across the island.

We expect the trails to be quiet, travelling through along dry-stone paths (where the route took its name), forests, and through orange, olive, and other citrus groves. We will also pass through many quiet traditional villages and local provincial towns with their cobbled streets and open-air cafes. All the while the loft heights of the Tramuntana will flank us on one side.

At times we will climb steeply through wide canyons and the trail can become particularly dry and rocky where care and attention need to be given. A handful of our days include some steep climbs, but they are worth it as the reward is spectacular views from the top. Our longest day on the trail is 20km when we travel from Soller to Lluc. Our maximum altitude will reach around 1,200m.

FAQs

  • FLIGHTS

We specialise in arranging excellent trail running experiences but do not book international flights. As there is a great variety of value flights departing from all over the world to Palma de Majorca International Airport (PMI). We will discuss with you our trusted and recommended ways to book international flights through excellent ATOL-protected partners who offer great value, ease of service, and flight protection.

  • GROUP MANAGEMENT

Being a group of max. 12 runners with a mixture of ages and running abilities we may decide to split into flexible groups, all of which will be supported by our running guides who will travel with us on the trip. By splitting the group will allow us all to move more fluidly, allowing all team members to run at their own comfortable pace, without feeling pressured.

  • TEMPERATURES

Mallorca enjoys a Mediterranean climate year-round. We purposefully choose to run this trail running trip in the spring as the temperatures sit in the early to mid 20 degrees C with clear days expected. The conditions are absolutely perfect for trail running.
