Marathon Du Malton

Malton, North Yorkshire

52 Market Place, Malton, YO17 7, United Kingdom

Sun 23rd October 2022

Starting at 10:30

Organiser's Description

Bonjour and welcome to "Britain's Tastiest 10K"

Inspired by the Marathon Du Medoc in France's wine region, this gourmet food and wineathlon goes through an area of Yorkshire famous for its award-winning local produce and beautiful countryside.

Starting and finishing in Malton's pretty Market Place, there will be various food and drink stops around the beautiful 10k course. Participants are encouraged to take their time, pace themselves and enjoy the party atmosphere, food themed fancy dress (optional) and gourmet food stops.

For family members not taking part in the 10k a Street Food Sunday event will be taking place in Malton at the same time with the start/finish line right alongside the pop-up picnic area.

We now offer three types of entry:

The 'sans arrêt' entry is for those who are more interested in their time and do not want to visit the food and drink stations along the route

The 'Classique' entry is for fun runners who want to participate in the fancy dress (optional) version of the race with a selection of Artisan food and drink stops along the way

The 'Escargot' entry is for those who want to take a more leisurely stroll around the course and savour the Artisan food and drink stops along the way. This one is also great for families and dog walkers too

Numbers for the 'Classique' and 'Escargot' entries are strictly limited because we need to organise catering for all the food and drink stops along the course - so do not delay, book your place today!

The course is a mix of urban and rural landscapes, so may not be suitable for all. However at previous events we have had a participant in a wheelchair complete the course with the help of their friends lifting the chair over the kissing gates while they hobbled through the gates. Previously a couple completed the course with a runners buggy and several runners have been accompanied by their dogs (on leads).

This is much more than just a race, the Marathon Du Malton is an experience!

If you are in any doubt as to the amount of fun had by all taking part then just look online #marathondumalton

As per UK Athletics guidance, the 'Sans Arret' and 'Classique' are only available to those over 15 years of age. For licensing purposes only over 18’s are permitted to consume alcoholic samples.

Course Details

This 10k begins and ends in Malton town centre. Along the way you will go cross-country, through woodland, a couple of 'kissing-gates' and you will even traverse the famous gallops where Richard Fahey trains racehorses. At various points along the course there are food or drink stops featuring producers from Malton - Yorkshire's Food Capital

What's Included

The Marathon Du Malton offers three options:
1) The Classique is a food themed fancy dress (optional) fun run featuring food and drink stops along the 10k course

2) The Escargot is the walking version of the Classique for those who prefer a more leisurely pace. You will experience a fantastic walk in beautiful surroundings and better still your journey will be punctuated by lovely food and drink stops along the way! The Escargot is available for the whole family, you can even bring your dog on this walk!

3) The Sans Arret is the non-stop version of the race. There's no food or drink stops, this is just you versus the clock!
Malton town centre is pedestrianised especially for this event, we have a pop-up picnic area with the York Mix Radio Roadshow and a range of street food outlets. So spectators are entertained and catered for too.

  • Prizes for the best food themed fancy dress
  • A souvenir etched glass and finishers certificate for every entrant
