Mud Monsters Run

Who can compete?

Pretty much anyone can compete, we welcome a wide range of fitness abilities. Mud Monsters Run is designed so that most people can get around and if you run fairly regularly then you should be fine, but it is amazing what a bit of determination can do on the actual day. Of course your safety is important to us and you may need to consult your doctor before the race. To take part you must be at least the age of 16 on race day to run on your own. ​ Aged 12 - 15 We have lowered our minimum age so now those aged 12-15 can run too but only in the 3km or 5km distances. In order to run you must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian and have an adult run the race with you.

What is the refund/cancellation policy?

As with most sporting events we state in our terms and conditions that we are unable to offer refunds or move you to one of our other events after you have booked and paid for your place. You can however make a substitution via your account up until the Monday before the run if you can find someone willing to take your place, please note there is an administration fee involved in this process and you will need to sort the money for the price of the ticket out between yourselves.

Where do I find the results?

Our events are not chip timed so there will be no results after the event. You will however still be emailed after the event with the link to the photos and other important information you need to know.

What should I wear?

We HIGHLY recommend you wear trail, cross country or fell running shoes which have grippy soles, these give you so much more traction on the course and greatly reduces the risk of you slipping over and injuring yourself. Moulded football boots have also been recommended in the past and are fine for the muddy areas but please be extra careful in these boots on obstacles as they will provide little to no grip when climbing etc. Normal trainers are not ideal and can be dangerous due to how slippery the course can get, you will probably get round but when they get muddy they just slip and slide which is both frustrating and can lead to accidents. Shoes that might be dangerous will not be allowed, there will be NO spikes allowed on the day our officials will be checking footwear on the day and if they are deemed to be dangerous you will not be allowed to run. ​ We recommend that you wear lightweight clothes that will dry quickly, even if it’s cold as heavy or thick clothing will retain the water and not only weigh you down but also make you colder. Long sleeves and bottoms might help protect you from scratches. It’s also a good idea to bring a change of clothes with you so you can relax and enjoy yourself in some clean clothes after you’ve run.

What if the run is sold out?

If a run is showing as sold out before race day then we will no longer be able to add anyone else beforehand, this means we have reached our capacity. Our races are very popular and have previously sold out so we would recommend if you are running with friends or as a team that you get everyone to register as soon as possible to avoid people not being able to run. I hear you have hot showers?

We do indeed! Everybody loves these showers! These amazing showers are genius! The water is heated by a fire throughout the day, each person is given a bucket of hot water which hangs above you with a little tap on it, you stand in your very own little tarpaulin cubicle where you can wash off the worst of the mud and warm up so you are ready to sit down and chill out with something tasty from one of our food vendors and swap muddy stories about the run. The showers will be working on a token system, 1 token per shower, tokens can be purchased from the registration tent when you arrive in the morning, or from the shop or bag drop throughout the day. Tokens are £2.50 each and cash is preferred but we will be able to accept card on the registration desk and in the shop, the bag drop will be cash only. Please note you are not able to reserve a time slot for the showers.

My pre race email has not arrived?

Pre race emails are sent out about 7-10 days before each event and all runners will need to collect their registration packs at the check-in tent on site on race day.

Do I need photo id?

We require to see photo ID for each person at registration when you collect your race pack, this can be a copy or a photo. We do not require photo ID from under 16's but will ask to see some from the adult with them. Any queries on this please do get in touch.
