Organiser's Description

Follow in the footsteps of the North Wales quarrymen on a 5km route that takes you round the historic Dinorwic Slate Quarry in Llanberis.

The climbs are tough but the reward is high - are you ready to put on your trainers and take a step through history?

The Quarryman Run is part of Slateman10 a weekend of events to celebrate the 10th birthday of The Slateman. This is the perfect event for someone who wants a taster of The Slateman, those coming to support a triathlete who would like to get involved on a smaller scale, or an extra event for those competing in the triathlon, duathlon or swim events. The event will take place on the Saturday afternoon and lead into our evening celebrations so whatever your reason for running, come and join the party!

Course Details

This is not your average 5km! Before you even get the first Kilometre under your belt you are faced with a steep climb up the infamous 'zig-zags' as you make your way up a slate mountain. It’s tough on the legs and lungs but it's worth it for the incredible views. Moving on through ancient forest trails you finally reach the top of the main climb to emerge victorious at the top of the famous Vivian Quarry. With a couple of exciting steep descents and loads of quarry history and industrial relics to run past, you’ll have loads to motivate you as you push on to complete this stunning race. Run past the Old Quarry Hospital and onto the finish stretch where you can let your legs go and sprint for the finish.
