How To Get There

The race starts and finishes at Old Deer Park on Twickenham Road as indicated by the arrow on the map below. This is also race HQ and where the registration area is located.

If travelling by train/tube, the nearest station is Richmond. From the station, turn right and walk up Kew Road to Richmond Circus. From here take the first exit left on to Twickenham and continue until you reach race HQ. In total, this is less than a ten minute walk. Please check Transport for London and Rail/tube website before travelling as there could be industrial action!

If travelling by car, parking is available for over 400 cars at Old Deer Park Car Park (TW9 2RA) which is located opposite the event HQ. This is free until 11.00am on Sundays, after which a charge of £0.75 per each half hour applies (you can pay when you arrive and will be issued a ticket to start at 11.00am). We anticipate that this car park will fill up very quickly and so, if you intend to use this car park we recommend that you arrive early to give yourself enough time to find alternative parking should this be necessary. Should you choose to use the Old Deer Park Car Park please use the footbridge to cross the A316 to get to the start. Do not try and cross the road without the footbridge as you will be endangering yourself and others!

Among others alternatives, we suggest Ranelagh Drive which is adjacent to Twickenham Bridge (TW1 1QZ) and a five minute walk to the event - once parked, cross Richmond Footbridge and turn right towards the narrow bridge that leads into Old Deer Park and to race HQ. However, there is also plenty of metered parking (free on Sunday) available in the local area around Kew Road and the surrounding areas. Please note there will be no parking allowed in the Pools in the park car park at the entrance of Old Deer Park. Anyone that tries to park here could get clamped so we advise the other areas mentioned above. This car park is only for members using the gym and we cannot stress this enough that no parking please!!!

Facilities

Toilets will also be provided at the start / finish area. An official race photographer will be in attendance around the course so make sure they catch you when you are looking your very best! A Medical team will also be situated at the start area.

Baggage Storage

There will be supervised baggage drop area at the event. This is free to use but please note that we cannot take any responsibility for loss of items or possessions, so please refrain from storing valuables in this area. Please tear off the baggage tag from the race number and attach to your bag before setting off for the race.

Race Rules

The route is on public roads. Runners are advised to keep on the pavements at all times.

Please don’t try and impede other runners and road users. Just remember these are public roads so please do respect ALL road users and traffic.

There will be marshals around the course who are there for your safety and to guide runners along the running route. Please adhere to all their instructions as they may be pointing out hazards en-route.

Any athlete not complying with the rules faces disqualification.

Refreshments

All kinds of hot drinks and refreshments will be available.

Results & Prize Ceremony

Results will be available after you cross the finish line. The official results will be posted on the website a few hours after the event.

Prizes will be award to the 1st 2nd & 3rd Male & Female and there will also be Vets Prizes for V40, V50, & V60 for both Male and Female.

All finisher will be awarded a finishers medal!

Very Friendly Environment. It was my first Half Marathon and it went very well. Organizers were very friendly and helpful onsite. Just a little bit disappointed with the 🏅...it was not the quality that Iam expecting. But kuddos to all marshalls and organizers.

Nice course, well marked, some remarks. Shame such windy day, but not the organiser's fault! A few remarks... Not happy with the convoluted course in the first and half miles. At the final rush it looks I am 200m from the finish line but then I have to go through an additional 200m loop :( No pics on the (very poor) R&R website, no corrected timing on the timing website. (I probably got spoiled by the Victoria Park half I run 2 wks ago, where both pics and timing website were brilliant)
Hi Leonardo - Congrats on the run! There are photos from the run on the randrphotos website. Thanks

Great on the day, but prep lacking. I was pretty disappointed by the lack of information prior to the event. The only communication from RunUK was an email with a link to a race info sheet a few weeks out from the day, which looked hastily-put together and hadn't been proofread. There was no route map that I could find on the website, and the map copied and pasted into the info sheet only showed the start location (and even then it wasn't particularly clear). That said, on the day everything went smoothly and was well-organised. The course was really lovely, despite the wind and drizzle - very flat along the Thames. Beautiful part of London. None of the course was closed off to other path users, which worked out fine, but I did wonder if it had been a sunnier day with lots more people out (in particular in the middle of Richmond by the river) whether this would have been problematic for both runners and pedestrians. Overall it was a really nice smaller-sized event.

Great run. It was inspiring to see such a great turn out despite the early start and bad weather (from runners, supporters and volunteers alike!)

Lovely views & Marshals. The course was lovely with some great views. The marshals all along the route were really friendly and always had a smile on their faces despite the weather. The only thing I would say could be improved was ensuring there are a few more water stops and making sure that the markings at the beginning and end of the race are clearer (understand the weather didn’t help) but the tape made the running quite unsafe at points.

One step closer to LM2020. The perfect race to keep me on track ahead of The London Marathon. Really enjoyed the route - spectacular views - and the weather, despite the wind! Had me battling the elements. Thanks for organising and shoutout to the volunteers!

A good run with great views. Despite the weather being horrible, there was a great turnout on the day and the marshalls and organisers never let it get them down, always keeping the morale high. A solid course layout and well marked. Only criticisms would be that the initial and final miles relied on it being taped off and the wind made it sometimes hard to figure out the route. The medal was also underwhelming in my opinion, but otherwise a great race.

Amazing course and great Marshall support. Despite the drizzle and the wind I really enjoyed this race! Small issue with parking machines if paying on card but the course itself and the event I throughly recommend.

Well organised and good vibes. First time running the Richmond Half and the process was a breeze. Route was pretty much flat and scenic along the River Thames. Good atmosphere on the course and the marshals were outstanding!

Great route. This was my first ever half Marathon so nothing to compare my experience to but thought the route was lovely running along the river! It was a very windy day so tape lining the course was flying all over the place making it difficult at times to see where to go but this couldn't be helped. Would be good if organisers could look at making the event more environmentally friendly by not handing out plastic juice boxes at the end of race. Kind of contradicts their efforts not to give plastic cups to runners during the race.

Brilliant for a first half marathon. Loved the atmosphere and it was well sign posted. Mix of pavement and grass, great scenery too. First and last kms were trickier because of the loops on the grass but it was a brilliant day, so thank you!

Nice steady Half. Nice steady half on mixed surfaces (grass, cobbles, towpath, pavement). Fairly flat profile, some great views, well organised. Only improvement suggestions - could do with thinning the field more before getting runners to cross the narrow bridge out of the park - had to slow to a walk at this point due to congestion; and the final 100m loop after what looks like the finishing straight is a bit mean

Lovely scenic run along the river. This was my first half marathon, and it was a really nice way to start. The route is great, mainly running by the river, and there were plenty of marshals/water stops to make it a comfortable experience. It also had a relaxed vibe, which was perfect for my first half. So, lovely views, well organised, all in all a great run!

My first half back in 2015, not one to forget. This was my first ever half, and it's certainly one on the race calendar that always catches my attention, due to the support and the decent route.. I'll see you in November!
Congrats on your first half!

A great race. A really great race however there should have been bottled water stations/more frequent water stations round the course.

Small Event - Fast Field. Was torn between this and Hampton Court, but having completed HC before, thought I would try Richmond. Worth knowing that the event is a small field (c. 400 I believe, against about 4,000 at HC). Parking / amenities are really good. Beautiful location, and the weather was kind on Sunday. A small race, with a fast field and lots of club runners. I'm coming back to fitness after injury so finished at about 2:30 and was one of the last back. Good course, scenic but the repeating loop was not my idea of fun, personally. In the final miles it was dodging pedestrians and there were few runners still out, which isn't a very good feeling - the final (and starting) km or so is a miserable loop of the field, which is a bit disheartening when you loop past the Finish! If you're a fast runner I'd recommend it. If you're looking for a more mixed field and fun atmosphere, definitely Hampton Court. Not a very nice medal and no goody bag, if those are your motivators!

Prove you can run faster than deers. I participated with my boyfriend at the RHM with one month preparation. The track was tough (relatively to the little prep), starting and finishing at the Old Deer Park. The route alternated between some asphalt paths by the mesmerising river, and some rough muddy and stoney tracks. The organising staff was very helpful (they distributed vegan(!) protein shakes, water, juices and bananas at the finish line and the staff was cheering along the marathon route). Overall organisation was also very smooth, mile-signposts and motivations along the route were really helpful. We would have needed some more water stands (there were three in total, but we would have needed one especially after the second lap uphill). The speaker entertained both the audience and the runners throughout the whole marathon! We wouldn't have made it through the last 100m if it wasn't for him! It was a sunny day and we really enjoyed starting the beginning of spring with RHM! Highly recommended!
