Rough Runner Salford Quays (Sunday)

MediaCityUK, Salford Quays, Manchester

MediaCityUK, Salford Quays, Manchester M50 2EQ

Sun 21st June 2020

Starting at 10:00

Organiser's Description

Rough Runner is back in Manchester!! 1000s of Roughians nailed the Travelator last year, so we’re back to give another packed-out crowd the chance. Whether you’re new to Rough Runner or have been before, this is your only chance to take on our epic obstacles in the heart of the city.

We know of no other event which brings a range of obstacles so massive, so ambitious, and so much fun – directly to the heart of a city! We’ll be bringing the legendary Travelator with us to your doorstep, and giving you the opportunity to bring your favourite TV game show memories into reality. Inspired by TV game shows like Total Wipeout, Gladiators, Takeshi’s Castle and Ninja Warrior, this is the only event that will give you the chance to take on a load of epic obstacles that you’ve only ever seen on screen and always wanted to try.

A real day out for family and friends alike. Did we mention we have The Travelator? Do it now. Regret it never.

How To Get There

By car: From the M60 take Junction 12 for the M602, exit at Junction 3 and follow the signposts for The Quays.

By Tram: Metrolink offers fast, frequent and fully accessible transport to and from Manchester city centre. Alight at MediaCityUK.

By Train: Trains run into Manchester's national railway stations, Piccadilly and Victoria, from across the country. You can then travel to The Quays by Metrolink tram.

By bus: From Salford Crescent station, 1.75 miles West of Manchester Victoria and 2.25 miles West of Manchester Piccadilly, buses run regularly to The Quays.

There are great public transport links to The Quays, which means no-one needs to worry about who the designated driver is, and instead you can hang out at The Quays with a well-deserved post-run drink and watch the other runners face planting on the Travelator!

Parking

We don’t provide any parking at Salford Quays, as it’s so easy to get to via the tram and other public transport.

Although there are public car parks and spaces available – just be warned you do need to pay.

If you need to drive, you'll find plenty of space in any of the several multi-storey car parks nearby, the closest being The Lowry Outlet (postcode M50 3TY), and MediaCityUK ( M50 2EQ). Charges will apply.

Cmpetitor Information

Things you'll need to bring that you can’t race without:

- A print out of your ticket

- The Adult waiver – The Waiver!

- Photo ID

Cash: You will need cash for food and drinks on site – card payment machines outdoors can be temperamental.

Suitable clothing. This is up to you, but we strongly urge you to bring a towel and a fresh change of dry clothes! If it’s hot you’ll be sweaty, if it’s wet you’ll be muddy! Either way, it’s much nicer to have a drink at the bar if you’re feeling fresh!

Also gloves to use during the event (for all those nets and ropes).

You will get muddy, and so will your trainers, so don't wear anything you are particularly precious about!

Changing: There are hot showers at most of our events. Please email us if you’d like to check!

Course Details

2.5 km

Welcome to our Urban Challenge! This particular distance is ONLY AVAILABLE at our this event.

The 2.5km is particularly good fun, with between 10 – 12 obstacles and an awesome swim challenge (you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to), geared towards having a laugh whilst still providing a challenge. But there’s no suffering here (we don’t like getting electrocuted either!) – you’re just going to get very wet.

5 km

The 5km option is made up of 2 laps of the 2.5km course, so you’ll get to take on each obstacle twice, saving the Travelator for the finish line. Good news if you wiped out on your first attempt…

And if you’re not built to run marathons, that’s fine too. The average running distance between 2 obstacles is only about 100-200m, so your stamina reserves don’t need to be endless!

Enjoy the fun, and the challenge, without the pain.
