Trail Running Retreat | Transylvania, Romania
Trail Running Retreat | Transylvania, Romania
Transylvania lies deep in the heart of myth and legend as the home of Count Dracula, but there is so much more that this region of Romania has to offer. Bran lies 150km North-West of Romania's capital, Bucharest, and is surrounded by spectacular mountain and forest trails.
Winding paths leading through lush expansive valley views, while tracks and signs remind you that you share this wilderness with wolves, bears and an abundance of other wildlife. Make the Bucegi mountain range your playground for a few days - this is a truly awesome place to run.

During these unprecedented times, we wanted to let all our Nomadic Runners how important it is for us and the global community to stay safe and look after one another. This is our number one priority to ensure not only our community but those in place we travel remain safe. We appreciate that many people face challenges now and many more will in the future. We are all in this together. We are doing all we can to ensure that our customers are well taken care of in the spirit of the trail running community.
As you are aware the situation is changing daily across the globe with various countries taking different strategies to deal in a manner they feel best. We are closely watching the situation and take advise from the leading governing bodies, the main one being UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) . This will ultimately govern if a trip will go ahead or not. If at the time of final payment (8 weeks before departure) the FCO is still advising against travel to the destination of the trip we will have no choice but to postpone.
We appreciate that this throws many balls in the air for you and are working hard behind the scenes with our local guides and suppliers to ensure this has as little impact on you as possible, whilst giving you the greatest amount of flexibility. Here's what we're doing:
Contacting each individual directly who's trip is likely to be affected
If you have already booked on a trail running retreat or adventure then we will contact you directly to explain the situation and the options available.
Fully refundable deposits
In the event that a trip is cancelled due to Covid-19 then the initial deposit paid shall be fully refundable. For now, we are utilising this option until the end of 2020 after which we will revert back to our standard terms and conditions. Our hope is that by this time we will have a clear picture going forward into 2021 and can make an informed decision about a future direction.
We are allowing for any customers who have booked on a retreat or adventure to reallocate this to a future trip. This means a like for like swap is available in case you decide on a different destination. There will of course be:
- no additional fees
- no price change from what it was at the time of booking
- still have a trail running adventure in the diary to look forward to
Booking will be held indefinitely
Any bookings will be held indefinitely, this means you don't have a time limit on rescheduling your trip. We understand that there is a lot of flux at the minute so don't want to hamper this any further. With new dates and destination in 2021, we hope that this is something to look forward to and a future date can be rescheduled. If this does not work for you then the cancellation terms at the time of booking will apply.
We're adding more dates
We are increasing our offering for 2021, meaning more great destination and more choice for our guests. In addition to this, we are adding more UK specific dates and once travel restriction lapse some more UK day trips.
Keeping you updated
We'll continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis and update this page accordingly. We will, of course, reach out to those affected at the point in which we know more.

Arrive and settle in to the accommodation. Put your feet up, meet the team over an evening meal.
Breakfast will be available early giving us time for food to settle a little before heading out. Warm up and we head to the beginning of the trail-head which is in easy reach of the accommodation. The longest run you'll undertake will see us climb high into the local peaks and plateaus before descending back through magical woodlands and single track trails. Back at base we clean ourselves off before a simple lunch to refuel. The afternoon is at you own leisure, relaxing or exploring Bran. The team and guests reconvene over dinner.
After breakfast we have a short transfer to the trail-head. A quick warm up we head out on a longer run. Entering the second national park in two days, Piatra Craiului. This limestone mountain range forms a north-south spine. As we reach the highest point we navigate the ridge-line before descending through wonderful woodland via a series of trails and tracks. After lunch an optional stretch & strength class will be available (45mins), or just unwind ahead of the evening meal.
A quick stretch and easy morning run (1hr) will set you up for your journey - or treat yourself to a extra hour or two in bed. The team and guests share breakfast before heading off.
In the heart of Bran this accommodation allows easy access to trail heads and the town where the castle is situated. A lovely social space for sharing meals and discussions makes this a wonderful place to spend a weekend of rest and relaxation.
