On Saturday, September 28th, 2024, join fellow trail running enthusiasts in the stunning coastal town of Minehead, Somerset, as this exciting event kicks off the Somerset & Exmoor Coast Festival. Participants can choose between two exhilarating distances: a challenging 100km route starting at the Hands Monument in Minehead or a marathon distance beginning at Bridgwater Docks. Both routes promise breathtaking views, iconic landmarks, and a unique self-navigation experience along the scenic King Charles III Coast Path.
As you run, you'll enjoy the beauty of the Somerset coastline, passing through picturesque locations such as Blue Anchor, Watchet, and the stunning West Quantockshead waterfall. The journey culminates at the National Trust’s Brean Down Cafe after completing a lap of Brean Down, making for a perfect finish to your trail running adventure. With downloadable maps, route descriptions, and GPX files provided to assist runners, the Somerset Coast Challenge is set to be a memorable day for all participants. Channel Events are proud and excited to be working in partnership with the Somerset & Exmoor Coast Festival to bring you the brand new Somerset Coast Challenge!
This fantastic trail running event will kick off the Somerset & Exmoor Coast Festival on the 28st September 2024.
Love long distance trail running and the coast?
Then you’ll love this. 100km or marathon distance options along the beautiful Somerset Coast.
The 100km option will start at the Hands Monument in Minehead after registering at The Adventure Centre and the marathon distance will start at Bridgwater Docks. Both distances will finish at the National Trust’s Brean Down Cafe after completing a lap of Brean Down. The event wouldn’t be complete without visiting iconic landmarks at the start and finish.
The event will be ‘self-navigated’, you’ll will be keeping the sea to your left through your journey and following the King Charles III Coast Path way markers. To assist you we will supply via downloads a route description, route maps and a GPX file.
