Organiser's Description

The challenge is back on for 2024 - Who will reign supreme - City or Wharf?

It's time to get competitive and challenge not only yourself but also your corporate competitors. Awards up for grabs are:

Fastest individuals (M&F); fastest relay team; largest company entry, as well as fastest company teams - M/F/Mixed teams (combined company results generated from our timing system).

Timings - 10k individual run 6pm - Team Relay 6.05pm - 5k run 6.20pm

This is how it works:

1. Enter individually into the 5k or 10k race

2. Enter as a team of 2 for our team 10k relay event: £40 per team (NOTE only one person registers the team. Teams can be made up of any gender. Each participant runs 5k.

Company placings for fastest teams require minimum of 4 people from any one company in order to show in the team results.

Every entrant receives full race chip timing, an awesome CityvWharf medal, full race day support and high fives, light refreshments post race (as well as bottled water at start/finish line).

So lay the challenge down to your colleagues, your business associates, your competitors and lets get as many people together as we can from our City and Wharf districts to race for your competitive and corporate pride!

Course Details

The run route is 2 laps of Victoria Park for the 5k and a repeat of this for the 10k. The first lap is the longer section around 3km and the second lap is the smaller section of 2km. The run route is on hard path and is a flat course. Suitable for wheelchair users.

How to Get There

By Car

There is no carparking in Victoria Park so if driving please plan ahead where you will park.

By Train

Nearest underground station: Mile End. Plan your journey to Mile End Station
Nearest rail stations: Cambridge Heath/Hackney Wick Station

From Mile End Station, turn left and cross over Mile End Road. Turn right onto Grove Road – it’s about 10-15 minutes walk straight down. Alternatively, you can also walk most of the way through Mile End Park, which runs parallel to Grove Road. You will first arrive at the Crown Gates.

Location

Our event hub is near the Crown Gate East entrance. Turn right when in the park and we are approx 100 meters up from the entrance.

For car/train details please check the Travel section below. There is no dedicated parking at Victoria Park. Please be sure to plan your journey to arrive on time.

RACE PACKS
Your race packs will be collected at this event. Please aim to arrive around 30-40 minutes before the start of the race to ensure you have plenty of time to collect your pack plus put bags in bag storage. If you are entered as part of a team one of your team members can collect for everyone.

ARRIVAL & START TIME
The City v Wharf 5k Run Challenge will start at 6pm. Please make sure you pin your race number to the front of your running top.

TOILETS
Situated at our event hub.

BAG STORAGE
This is located next to the registration tents. Please note space is very limited so travel as lightly as possible. If you require bag storage make sure you arrive with plenty of time to spare.

THE CITY v WHARF 5k RUN CHALLENGE
The run will kick off at 6pm and will take you around Victoria Park. We will start gathering you in to the start area at 5.55pm. We will have some funky tunes played to get you in the spirit and you will be warmed up by our team.

There will be marshals around the course to support and encourage you. Please note placings for this race will be based on chip time.

Please take care when running around the course as this is public land and local residents will be out and about. Please always stay on the left unless otherwise guided. Enjoy this great run around Victoria Park.

Drinks and snacks will be available at the finish line.

AFTER THE EVENT
Everyone will receive a very cool medal and some great goodies! There will be trophies awarded for overall individual winners, fastest company (minimum of 4 runners per company), most runners from one company, and a number of other awards. Please note these will be presented during the week after the event as all results will need to be assessed.

You will be able to check out your instant race results on our website.
