Are your events chip timed?
Yes, The Ultra Loop is accurately chip timed with comfortable ankle straps by the highly experienced team at What's My Time. Participants and spectators can see the live results including lap numbers and split times as the event is happening via a screen in our timing area.
When do entries close?
Entries will close when the places sell out, or two weeks before the event takes place.
What does signing up as a 'team' mean?
Signing up as a team means that you are signing up to share the overall distance with your team members in a relay format, meaning you run at different times. You will be given a timing item to pass between runners as you take it in turns to run your chosen distance. For example, a team of 5 running the full 50km may choose to run 10km each, one after the other.
What is the event capacity?
The event is limited to 300 participants.
What should I bring?
We would advise that all participants have the following:
Appropriate footwear that can handle both asphalt path and trail. There are sections of the route that are on uneven and potentially muddy trails, so please consider this when choosing your shoes.
Clothing and kit to suit the weather of the day which may include waterproof layers and a change of clothes. March is often cold and wet, so please consider this when choosing your kit for the event.
Your own water bottle. With sustainability in mind, we are operating on a bring your own bottle basis. We will have plenty of water for you to fill up your bottles, but we will not be providing cups at the aid station.
Any participants who plan to run 4+ loops (20K+) should also consider the following in addition:
Appropriate fuelling and hydration plans and in turn appropriate products and equipment such as a running vest and tried and tested hydration and fuelling products.
Is there an aid station?
Yes, our aid station will provide water, fruit, vegan snacks and a limited number of energy bars from our event sponsor VOOM and hydration products from our partner LMNT. Vegan snacks will be along the lines of nut butter and fruit bakes, flapjacks, oat-based protein balls, dates, bananas, oranges and more.
When you are finished you are welcome to visit the aid station again for fruit and snacks.
If you would like to bring your own food and drink and you won't have someone with you to look after it, there will be an area where you can store your fuel but please make sure it is very clearly labelled.
There will also be a hot drinks stall selling coffee, tea and hot chocolate as well as cakes and pastries for both participants and spectators.
Our aid station and toilets will also have female sanitary products for those who may need it.
Is there a bag drop?
Yes, there is a free baggage drop that will be managed by a member of staff.
Is there onsite parking?
There are several pay and display car parks on the event site itself, as well as surrounding the event site.
Where do I register on the day?
Event registration will begin onsite at 6.45am, where you will collect your race number and have some time to warm up and get familiar with the event village. The event briefing will then take place at 8.45am before all runners will toe the line ready to start at 9.00am.
Can I wear headphones?
Headphones are allowed at this event as long as you remain aware of those around you and your surroundings at all times.
Do I get a medal even if I don't run the full 8 hours?
Yes, every runner receives a medal no matter how many laps you run.
Is there a winner?
We acknowledge the leading distance run in the 8 hours as 'course records' but we do not consider there to be winners of this event. This is down the nature of the event and its flexibility and inclusivity of all abilities of runners. We see The Ultra Loop as an individual challenge for each runner to achieve their own goals, rather than a competition.
Where can I find my results after the event?
You can ask a member of staff when you finish who will be able to direct you to the live results. The results will then be available on our website after the event finishes.
Where will I be told about event updates?
All event updates will be sent via both email and posted in our Facebook group which you can join here. All emails will come from [email protected]. Please make sure that you are regularly checking your junk folder, just in case our emails end up in there. If you aren't currently subscribed to our emails, you can do so here.
Can I get a refund, or defer my entry?
Sorry, due to the nature of the event and how it's organised we aren't able to offer refunds. If you want to defer your entry to a future event, you can do so by contacting us directly. This option is only available up to 2 weeks prior to the event. There is also a deferral option for both men and women in the case that an event is close to a pregnancy due date, please get in touch if this is the case.
