Organiser's Description
Timed 5k and 10k runs which start during twilight and take you through some of the best woodland Devon has to offer. The Twilight Run is a new event in Haldon Forest Park, Kennford, Exeter, so whether you've got the nerve to run solo, or seek safety in numbers and come as a group, dust off those trail shoes and grab your head torch!
The course is 1 lap for 5k and x 2 laps for the 10k - and nothing makes you run faster than hearing a twig snapping in the trees to the side of the path.
an enjoyable event.. Pre- race instant communication with race organisers, which was excellent. Registration was easy, liked race number with name too! A few more marshals may have been helpful especially in and coming out of the wooded section. At the race completion might have expected a table with a few sweets/ drink, especially for 10km runners! A large poster/sign with race organisation logo so pictures can be taken and A bit of social media free advertising can happen.
Friendly and enjoyable event will look out for more. Thanks.
Not bad but could be improved. Race started bang on time with clear briefing about ten minutes before. Signage was generally good with brightly lit arrows marking significant turns but there could have been a few more “reassurance” signs - it would be good to add some coloured tags or similar just to say “yes, this is the right route”
Whilst some of the run was on broad paths, a lot of it was on very narrow twisting paths which meant that overtaking was almost impossible. Having to run very closely behind other runners for considerable stretches meant that I couldn’t enjoy the sense of freedom that is one of the great joys of night trails.
At the finish we were given a medallion but no water. Water was available in the café in the car park but they clearly weren’t expecting anyone as they hadn’t put out any glasses. I’d have willingly swapped the bling for a glass of water and a piece of cake!
