Wasdale X is described as the deepest, steepest, highest, and is said to be the World's hardest full Iron Man triathlon. Set entirely in the Lake District National Park, with a record breaking 16,994ft (5,180m) of ascent, this ultimate triathlon challenges competitors in all three disciplines. The swim in Wastwater, England's deepest and most forbidding freshwater lake, is both breathtaking and awe-inspiring. The bike leg takes in all the Lake District's road passes, whilst the run takes athletes along the top of the 500m high Wasdale Screes before ascending England's highest peak, Scafell Pike.
