YMCA London City and North Fun Run

London, Greater London

Priory Park, Middle Lane, London N8 8LN, UK

Sun 8th May 2022

Organiser's Description

The YMCA London CAN Fun Run and Festival will once again be bringing together our wonderful community in a celebration of running, music and community spirit. Join us for North London’s inclusive running event for all ages and abilities.

The Fun Runs comprise a 10km (ages 16+); 5km (ages 14+); 8 x children's 1 mile fun runs (ages 3-14 years). The 10km and 5km start and finish in Priory Park, their route takes the runners up and around Alexandra Palace and through local streets, the 10k is a double loop. Courses are fully marshalled and road closures will be in place. The 1 mile children's races are traffic-free and completely contained within Priory Park

Runners will receive a medal, goodie bag and will be able to join a free community festival following the event with music, food stalls and entertainment.

This is a charity event. All money raised goes to YMCA London City and North’s vital work supporting young people through homeless accommodation and youth interventions across Haringey and neighbouring boroughs. We encourage runners to get sponsored for their race and help provide even more support to disadvantaged young people in the community.

Children ages 4 – 6 may run with an adult parent/carer.

Children aged 7 years and over should run unaccompanied, unless there are special requirements to be taken into consideration.

If running to accompany a child, please remove your own race timing chip to avoid confusing result timing.

Please ensure that your child(ren) are there in good time before their event, and that he/she runs in the correct race.

Smaller children should start at the back for safety reasons.

race packs

All race packs will be sent in the post to the address provided on your registration form. We are no longer offering the option to collect packs at the YMCA Fitness Centre or at the event. Postage fees have been included in your ticket price. You should receive your pack by 5 May 2022. If your pack has not arrived by that date please email [email protected]

chip timing tags & bibs

• On race day runners should attach their numbered race bib with timing chip to get an official finish time. The timing mats at the Start/Finish will record all the tags passing over them so make sure they are attached securely.

• For multiple entries for a household, please make sure the trace chips are kept with the relevant bib numbers to avoid confusion. There is a £5 charge for bibs or chips that have been lost or mixed up.

• All entries are non-transferable and non-refundable.

• At the end of the race a team of people will be clearly located at the end of the finish funnel to help you remove your race timing chip as they are returned to the race timing company. You can then collect your medal and runners goody bag.

runners with disabilities

We can accommodate a wide range of disabilities within the adult 5k, 10k and children’s races. If there are any additional requirements or queries with regard to this please contact [email protected]

road closures

Once again we have obtained a Traffic Management Order (TMO) to close off Priory Road from 9.30-11.00am, from Middle Lane roundabout to the traffic lights at the bottom of Muswell Hill Road; thus ensuring safety and facility for the runners exiting and entering Priory Park and running down Priory Road. We also have a TMO to close off Park Avenue North for 40 mins from 9.30-10.10am. This is to ease the flow of runners and prevent too much congestion at the start of the course and as the runners leave Park Avenue North via the alleyway and into Northview Road.

The 5k and 10k route is marshalled by a large voluntary team of marshals from London Heathside Athletics club who help direct runners around the 10k course. Also in attendance are CSP (Combined Service Provider) marshals who specialise in traffic management and road closures. Both these groups of marshals are there for your safety, so please pay attention to their directions.

  • To enable runners to heed marshal guidance we advise runners not to wear headphones, unless Bone Conductor headphones.
