Harrogate Harriers

Harrogate Harriers & Athletic Club was formed in April 2000 from the amalgamation of two athletics clubs, Harrogate A.C .and Imperial A.C. Both of these clubs enjoyed a substantial amount of success in years gone by, including having representatives running at county and national level.

Harrogate A.C. existed for almost 50 years and wore plain black colours. Imperial A.C. started as a breakaway club from Harrogate A.C. and was named after the fruit shop where it met for training sessions โ€“ the Imperial A.C. club vest was apple green! Harrogate Harriers & A.C members today wear red, black and gold club colours.

Since 2000, membership has risen to over 200 members and the club is thriving. Since the club was inaugurated, several of the clubโ€™s members have been asked to represent Yorkshire and Sue Dolan and Ben Grant have both represented England in international fell races. In 2004, Ben won the M55 class of the World Mountain Running Championships in Italy and over the last few years has won consecutive English and British Fell Running Championships. Many other individual and team performances have helped greatly to raise the Clubโ€™s profile and a number of the Young Athletes have put in notable performances in Regional and National Championship events.

Harrogate Harriers and A.C. is affiliated with UK Athletics (UKA) and accredited by Clubmark.
