Gran Fondo Mont Ventoux

Beaumes de Venise, France

16 Rue du Moulin de Grignan, 84190 Beaumes-de-Venise, France

Sat 4th June 2016

Organiser's Description

From the village of Beaumes de Venise the route snakes around the Provence countryside, over a couple of small but noticeable lumps, into the village of Malaucene, from where the climb of the giant Ventoux - at over 20km possibly the greatest climb in cycling - begins. The gradient jumps around, from 2-3% to 12%, making a steady rhythm difficult. The last few kms are through the famous lunar landscape of Ventoux, where it can get pretty cold and very windy. But from the top, the descent is rapid! This is a stunning part of the World for riding, with a mix of iconic and very hard climbing, and gentle kilometres in cycle heaven. Two route options.
