BEYOND FRENCH REVOLUTION SPORTIVE 2022

Its back for 2022 albeit in a slightly different format,

Escaping Britain’s shores if only just for a day ot two is as close most of us will ever get to feel like part of Le tour, Built on the foundations of France’s celebrated love of cycling, the Beyond French Revolution is a teasing taster of what life is like riding on the other side of the English Channel.

This European trip takes the sting out of independently planning a cycling trip abroad, as we will take care of everything on this ride to ensure you enjoy your day and get the most out of the fast-paced sportive setting.

The routes are fully signed, with GPX and GPS downloads available, also with aid stations and on course support (Safety and Mechanical Support) you ride, we will help you finish.

Starting and finishing in Calais at Calais football club.

THE FORMAT:

ENTER THE EVENT AND BOOK YOUR FERRY.

 (ENTRY IS £40.00)  

(THE FERRY IS APPROX. £51.00 RETURN). (ALL INFORMATION REGARDS FERRY, P and O DOVER to CALAIS).

If you buy a standard ticket its £51.00, a flexi tickets give you the option to get a later ferry, should your ride take longer than anticipated.

(Foot passenger only, there is no room for vehicles at the venue in France, you can off course choose to drive across but you must find parking independently).

PARK IN DOVER

Park your vehicle in one of the multiple car parks close to the dock.

 (Do not forget to get a parking day ticket).

ARRIVE AT THE FERRY TERMINAL TO CATCH YOUR FERRY.

The ferry departs at 07.50 (Pride of Canterbury) (Be there at least an hour early).

REGISTER ON BOARD THE FERRY.

We will be located on the top deck at the back of the boat.

This is where you collect your number, grab a coffee and bacon sandwich.

CYCLE TO CALAIS FOOTBALL CLUB

On arrival in Calais, cycle to the football stadium (It will be sign posted by us and is 2 km)

This is where you will Start and Finish the route, drop your bag, register if you did not do it on board, etc.

OR DRIVE ON BOARD.

You can drive on board with your bike and then park in Calais, cycle to the football stadium (It will be sign posted by us and is 2 km)

Then you can have a few days exploring more of the French countryside.

CYCLE THE ROUTE

Cycle the route around northern France and return to the football club.

CATCH YOUR FERRY

Catch the return ferry to Dover knowing you have experienced cycling in an Epic location.

(You decide which ferry to return on).

START AND FERRY INFORMATION:

The start will close at 1100am, there is plenty of time to register either on board or at the start, once you have your number you can just start, meaning if you register on board and collect your number, once the ferry docks you can just roll through the start to complete your ride.

All routes will start and finish at Calais football club and we have tried to make the whole route as open and free flowing as we could.

 

FERRY BOOKING:

 

You should independently book your own ferry, your ferry crossing is not included in  the cost of entry.

(We have no control over ferry timings etc)

Although the routes are comprehensively marked with route arrows on occasion people move these signs, we suggest downloading the route to a phone or navigation device just in case you need route assistance on the day.

ROUTES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE; WE ARE CONSTANTLY CHECKING THE ROUTES TO IMPROVE YOUR RIDING EXPERIENCE.

 

SPECIFIC EVENT INFORMATION:

Ferry departs at 0750

Registration will be from 0750 – 1000

Ferry arrives at 1020 (Local time).

You can start from 1030

The START will close at 1100  you will not be able to start after this time.

There will be a small safety brief on the start line just before the event begins, if you miss the briefing you will not be able to compete.

 

FINISH LINE:

The finish line will stay open until, 2030 , We will escort you to the finish if you can not make this cut off.

 

EACH RIDER WILL RECIEVE:

- A fantastic finisher medal.
- Entry goodies (Distance specific).
- Timed results.
- Safe bag drop.
- Aid station/s (Route distance will determine how many).
- First aid in the event centre and throughout the event course.

 

MORE INFORMATION:

Whether you’re setting yourself a fitness target, raising money for your good cause or just coming to join the hundreds of other riders who are riding for their own goals, you know you can also ride just for fun. (Is 100 miles fun, it can be, especially in France!)

(The event is limited of 500 riders over all the distances).

Further event details will be sent to your registered email address before the event.

Event updates will arrive approx. 2 weeks before an event, but everything you need to know is contained within these event pages.

Transfers and deferrals close 1 month before the event.

We always welcome volunteers at our events so if you fancy joining the team for the day or even a few hours at registration or with parking, please get in touch. You will be rewarded for your efforts and will be able to choose an event to enter for free, that is any event and any distance.

You do not need to help at a Sportive, if you help at any of our events, running, cycling, triathlons you can enter multiple events for free. (Dependent on time given).
