Event summary

Join us for the Cambrian Coast Sportive, organized by Wales Cycling Events, on Saturday, September 15, 2018, in the stunning coastal town of Aberdovey, Gwynedd. This event promises to be one of the most beautiful rides in the UK, offering cyclists the chance to explore a breathtaking landscape where over half of the routes traverse smooth tarmac on tranquil back roads, far from the hustle and bustle of traffic.

Riders will be treated to awe-inspiring views, including the picturesque Cregennan Lakes overlooking the Mawddach Estuary and the scenic coastal road to Fairbourne. The route also features the thrilling experience of crossing three estuary bridges and tackling the infamous Bwlch y Groes, known as Hellfire Pass, the highest piece of tarmac in Wales. With comprehensive marshalling, clear sign-posting, three feed stations (or five on the two longest routes), and electronic chip timing, participants can focus on enjoying their ride. Plus, every cyclist will receive a finisher's medal upon returning to Aberdovey. Don’t miss this chance to experience a fantastic day of cycling in one of the UK's most beautiful regions!

Organiser's Description

The most beautiful ride in the UK? In this sparsely populated part of the Country, well over half of each route is done on smooth tarmac on minor back roads where cars are seldom seen, allowing riders to ride happily side by side. Highlights include the spectacular Cregennan Lakes with views over the Mawddach Estuary, the coastal road to Fairbourne, the crossing of three estuary bridges, and the mighty Bwlch y Groes (aka Hellfire Pass) which is the highest piece of tarmac in Wales.

The routes are comprehensively marshalled and sign-posted with 3 feed-stations (5 on the two longest routes), electronic chip timing. You will receive your finishers medal on your return to Aberdovey!
