Located just north of Birmingham in the beautiful Cannock Chase Forest, this event offers an exhilarating challenge for runners of all levels – whether you’re prepping for a marathon or just looking for an adventure.

You can choose from the Half Marathon or 10K routes, each weaving through the rich woodlands of Cannock Chase. The trails, a mix of marked and unmarked paths, will take you past towering trees and through diverse forest habitats. The Cannock Chase Wildwood Trail Series is designed to provide a scenic yet challenging trail experience, making full use of the natural diversity within Cannock Chase. The 10K and Half Marathon distances are strategically planned using this balance of terrains, allowing runners to experience a mix of flatter sections, rolling hills, and rugged paths through forested trails. Here's a closer look at how these courses are structured:

10K (One Lap)

For the 10K, runners will complete one full lap of the course, which is specially designed to offer a well-rounded trail running experience without feeling repetitive. Starting on relatively flat ground, runners quickly transition into winding forest trails that gradually increase in complexity. The varied terrain introduces a mix of grassy paths, gravel, and dirt tracks, allowing for a mix of speed on the flat sections and focused endurance on hillier portions.

As runners progress through the lap, they encounter subtle elevation changes that add a level of challenge without overloading them. These sections not only provide a great way to test trail running skills but also allow runners to fully immerse themselves in the surroundings of Cannock Chase.

Half Marathon (Two Laps)

For the Half Marathon, participants will complete two laps of the same 10K course. With each lap, the diversity of terrain comes into play, making each repeat of the loop feel fresh and engaging. While the flat sections offer a bit of reprieve, the repeating hills and technical portions on the second lap demand strategy and stamina. In the second round, runners often find themselves pacing differently, as they’re more familiar with the course's challenging sections.

Completing two laps brings an added mental challenge that isn’t as prevalent in single-lap courses, testing not only physical endurance but also focus and determination.
