The Milton Keynes Cowman Triathlon returns to Emberton Country Park on Sunday 20th September 2026, ready to welcome athletes of all abilities for another unforgettable day of racing.

Course Details

Set in the scenic surroundings of Emberton Country Park, the Cowman Triathlon offers a beautiful and rewarding course for athletes of all levels. The race begins with a calm open-water swim in the park’s lake before heading out onto a rolling bike course through the picturesque Buckinghamshire countryside. Athletes then return to Emberton Country Park for the run, which follows paths through the park with great spectator support and a fantastic race-day atmosphere.

It’s a varied and enjoyable course that combines natural beauty with a challenging but achievable route, perfect for both first-time competitors and experienced triathletes looking for a memorable race.

There is ample parking within Emberton Park. As an athlete, you will be given free entry into the park, any spectators not travelling with you, will need to pay on arrival.

FAQs

  • When can I rack my bike?

    Bike racking is on race morning only from 5:30am. Transition will close 15 minutes before each race. 6:15 for Cowman Athletes 7:30 for Calfman Athletes 8:45 for Stampede Athletes

  • Does the cycle leg take place on closed-roads?

    The cycle course takes place on public roads, so we kick off the race early to avoid having you ride during peak traffic hours.

  • I can no longer take part, can I cancel my entry?

    Please visit bigcowsports.com and refer to the event T&Cs.

  • Will there be a mass start?

    ll athletes will begin in a mass start, irrespective of discipline (eg. Triathlon and Aquabike) entering the water a few minutes before your race begins. Bike-Run Athletes: You will start from your numbered racking position in transition in a time-trial format. Your official race time will begin the moment you exit Transition at Cycle Out.

  • How old do I have to be to take part?

    Cowman Distances 18+ Calfman Distances 17+ Stampede Distances 15+ (Parental consent required for 15 year olds as the cycle route takes place on open main roads).

  • Is there a race cut off?

    09:40 – Swim Cut-Off (All Distances) 11:40 – Bike Cut-Off (All Distances) 15:00 – Run Cut-Off (All Distances)

  • Can I wear a wetsuit?

    Wetsuit Rules: Wetsuit optional: Cowman (all ages), Calfman & Stampede (age 60+): 15.9°C – 24.6°C Calfman & Stampede (under 60): 15.9°C – 22°C Wetsuit mandatory: below 15.9°C Non-wetsuit: above 24.6°C or 22°C depending on your category

  • When does registration close?

    Registration will close at 11:59pm on Sunday 6th September 2026 or when the event is sold out.

  • Can I enter on the day?

    There may be entries on the day if the event has not sold out. Please keep an eye on our social media pages for confirmation.

  • Can I run with bone conduction headphones?

    No headphones/earphones of any kind are to be used during the race as per BTF Rules.

really well organised and friendly event. Lovely helpful volunteers and special mention to the paddle board marshalls looking after the swimmers, really patient and caring , great info right up to race day and lovely course across swim, bike and the run . Would defo recommend
