Goring 10k

The Goring 10k course starts outside Storton Lodge, the local Scout Centre in the north of the village. It climbs steadily up into the Oxfordshire countryside on quiet country lanes before turning west down Grove Road to cross over Wallingford Road. The route then traverses Hildred's Field (trail).

You then follow the Ridgeway footpath (trail) that runs parallel to the River Thames, rejoining the road through South Stoke Village, where our water station is situated, before rising and falling to the lonely crossroads. Here the course heads south, climbing to the highest point of the course along Icknield Road and then falls all the way to the finish at the Bourdillon Field, behind Goring Primary School.

REFRESHMENTS
There will be one water station en route, located at approximately the halfway mark in South Stoke, and a further station at the finish. All runners receive a medal, snack and a free tea or coffee. In addition, there will be hot dogs, burgers, hot drinks and other refreshments for sale at the Bourdillon Field.

BAGS
These can be left at Storton Lodge, immediately next to the race start. There will be a marshall present at the lodge during the race, however items left will be done so entirely at the owner’s risk and the Goring 10k and its organisers take no responsibility for loss or damage of any kind.

FIRST AID
Trailmed will be providing this year's first aid from start to finish, as well as support on site at the Bourdillon Field.

When the runners are off to the start there will be plenty of action at the race finish on the Bourdillon Field.

Refreshments will be on sale, running and sports-related stands will be promoting their wares and services and there will be music to add to the festive atmosphere.

There is a fenced-off childrens playground area that forms part of the Bourdillon Field, and there will be other activities on the day for the kids to try their hand at whilst waiting to cheer their parents over the finishing line.

Registration
You can collect your race number and timing chip from Bourdillon Field behind Goring Primary School on the day of the race from 9.00am. In the event of adverse weather the collection point may be moved into the PE Hall at the school.

Start
The race will start at Storton Lodge, Icknield Road, Goring at 11.00am. The lodge is found at the Elvendon Road end of Icknield Road.

Before the gun fires, we ask runners to organise themselves based on their predicted finish times - typically 5 minute slots - to help ease the flow of runners at the start and keeps runners safe.

Finish
The race finishes in Bourdillon Field at the rear of Goring Primary School. You can get to there by following the public footpath from Elvendon Road (next to the safety barriers) - or by going through to the front of Goring Primary School from Wallingford Road.

09:00 - On-the-Day Registration
You will need to collect your race number and timing chip from the Bourdillon Field behind Goring Primary School on the day of the Race from 9.00 a.m.

When you go to collect your number please make sure you leave enough time to fill out the important medical and emergency contact details on the reverse.

There will be slots left for runners to enter on the day. If so, then On-the Day Registration will be open at 9.00 a.m at Registration tent on Bourdillion Field.

11:00 - Race Start
The race will start at Storton Lodge, Goring at 11:00am. Note that the first 1.0 kms is a steady incline up into the countryside. To to be fair to all, competitors will be required to line up at the start in anticipated finishing times. For more information refer to The Start details on the The Race page.

12:15 - Prize Giving
The Prize Giving will be held on the Bourdillon Field, where the race finishes, as close to 12:15pm as possible. For competitors and their families wishing to take in the delights of the village after the race, there are several local pubs and restaurants in the village that offer good food and a convivial atmosphere. You may want to book lunch in advance as they are particularly popular on race day.

12:30 - Cut Off Time
Runners must complete the course in 90 minutes. We rely on 100s of generous volunteers to ensure a successful event and for many, the hard work starts after the race as the clearing up begins.

Non-binary entrants.
