Heart Of Wales Line trail race

Sat 29th May 2027

A large serpent-like sculpture appears to rise out of a lake, with loops of its body and its head visible above the water, surrounded by trees and greenery in the background. Two men are smiling and taking a selfie outdoors in front of a sign that reads "LLANDRINDOD WELLS SPA." Both are wearing casual clothes and backpacks, one in sunglasses and a cap, and the other in a grey t-shirt. Three smiling men wearing sunglasses pose closely together on a train. One man in front is holding up a ticket or label, and sunlight is coming through the windows behind them. Two round trail markers on a wooden post: the top one is yellow with a black arrow and text "Powys County Council," and the bottom one shows a brown viaduct over blue and green scenery. A small, rural train station with a single platform, a simple shelter, and surrounded by trees and greenery. The train tracks run along the front of the platform under a partly cloudy sky. A man in a pink shirt and cap sits smiling on a patterned seat, with a small brown dog resting beside him, both appearing relaxed and comfortable. A weathered wooden sign reads "Heart of Wales Line Trail To Knighton" with a white arrow pointing up, and "Follow Offa's Dyke Path" partially visible at the bottom. The background is a dirt path and cloudy sky. A man stands smiling with arms outstretched behind a railing and sign marking the border between Wales and England, surrounded by trees. The sign invites people to stand with one foot in each country. A stone arch bridge stretches across lush green foliage under a cloudy sky, with a castle-like structure visible in the background and power lines overhead. A brown dog wearing a red harness stands outdoors on dry grass near a large, pointed, weathered piece of wood, with hills and cloudy sky in the background. A misty woodland path covered with fallen leaves; two trail signs on a post in the foreground indicate a walking trail and a circular walk with an owl symbol. A small dog in a pink harness stands on a muddy path next to a wooden bridge over a stream in a grassy park area.

RUN THE LINE, HEAR THE HOWL

INTRODUCING THE HEART OF WALES LINE (HOWL) TRAIL RUN

Brand new for May 2027, the Heart of Wales Line Trail race is a fully supported trail running event that showcases the spectacular landscapes, communities and railway heritage of the renowned Heart of Wales Line Trail.

The Heart of Wales Line is a long distance walking and running trail that weaves its way between railway stations along the Heart of Wales Line. It opened in the Spring of 2019 across Shropshire, Powys, Carmarthenshire, Brecon Beacons National Park, and the City and County of Swansea.

The route is way-marked by roundels, finger posts and signs with the distinctive viaduct logo. For the inaugural hosting of this race event there are three distances to choose from: 50 miles, 26 miles or 16 miles.
