WHAT IS LONE WOLF?
Unique off-road running event, based on the Dartington Estate with a 7k course of undulating terrain, taking in the natural beauty of the Dart Valley and Woodlands. Once the event starts, runners will have one hour to complete the course. Not so hard right? That's where it gets interesting...

Everyone who makes it round in time, will have whatever time left in the hour to rest and get ready, then at the start of the next hour, you'll have to set off again to complete the course a second time...then a third...then a fourth...and every hour until we have but a single runner left: the Lone Wolf.

Will you be the Leader of the Pack?
With a 24 hour window, there's the possibility of running 100 miles. Remember: with any more than 1 runner left on the last lap, the race will be on!

RULES

To ensure a fair and exhilarating experience, we have some simple rules in place:

Be ready at the start line on each hour; if you're still finishing the lap or unable to continue, your run concludes.

In case of a tie on the number of completed laps by the final runners, the winner will be the first runner back over the finish line.

We'll have one male and one female winner.

Though we anticipate the run to continue for multiple laps, we reserve the right to adjust the competition in later stages if necessary to determine the ultimate winner.

Show respect to fellow runners and any members of the public using the area.

Most importantly, have an awesome time! We'll reward the best howls with high fives!

The Rules

  • Runners must be ready at start line on each hour. If you're still finishing the lap, or too tired to go on, that's the end of your run.
  • If there's a tie on the number of laps completed by the final runners, the winner will be the first runner over the line. Example: two runners left at the start of lap 8 - if neither has completed the lap within the hour, the first one back over the line is the winner.
  • One male + one female winner
  • Whilst we expect the run to go on for many laps, we reserve the right to squeeze the competition in later stages if the wolf pack can't be separated - be prepared!
  • Be respectful of other runners + any public who may be using the area.
  • Have an awesome time - best howls rewarded with high fives!

Great event. Friendly, well-organised, relaxed. There was a hall used as the base between laps where you could keep your bag etc. The route was good - a mix of stony tracks and (very muddy this year!) single-track paths. The event format of one loop on the hour every hour is great - it means you're always running with others. Overall, I had a great time, and this is one I'll do again.

Despite the awful weather and subsequent tricky ground conditions, the event was brilliant! It was Incredibly well organised with ample facilities and support. I hope Paul and the team see continued success with the race format next year!
