Westonbirt Arboretum Half Marathon, 10km, 5km & Fun Run

Sun 7th September 2025

A serene park scene with a winding gravel path through tall trees with yellowing leaves, indicating autumn. Sunlight filters through the branches, casting dappled shadows on the grass. Bright green foliage contrasts with the warm autumn hues. A sunlight-dappled path winds through a serene park lined with trees in autumn. Leaves in shades of green, yellow, and orange create a colorful canopy. The clear blue sky adds to the tranquil, vibrant scene. The photo captures vivid autumn foliage with red, orange, and yellow leaves on the trees, set against a bright blue sky. Some green pine needles are also visible, contrasting with the warm colors of the leaves. The perspective is looking straight up. A sunlit pathway in a park lined with tall trees. The sun's rays filter through the branches, casting long shadows on the leaf-covered ground. The trees, with sparse leaves, indicate a late autumn day under a clear blue sky. A view looking up at a large tree with gnarled and twisting branches. The tree's leaves are a mix of green and yellow, indicating a change of season. The sky in the background is clear and bright blue, and another tree partially frames the right side of the image.

Really well organised event - marshalls were plentiful and supportive, helping to direct you around the course. The setting was lovely, nice and firm underfoot with 1 hill along the 10k (2 if you do the half-marathon). Clear finish line with a lovely straight so you can really power through. 3 water/fuel stations along the half marathon as well, although I never stopped there always seemed to be ample supplies of water, electrolytes, haribos, chocolates etc. The post-race supplies were good as well. Wooden medal, ice pops (a lovely treat!), energy bars and haribos etc. I felt it was all organised very efficiently and have had a really good experience for my first half marathon and my first time at this venue. It was a really relaxed atmosphere, unlike the Bristol 10k last month which was hectic!! Highly recommend. I heard one of the marshalls say my now-favourite phrase "run how you're feeling, not what your watch says" so thanks to him as it kept me going and I smashed my targeted time :)

Very well organised with clear signage. Mainly flat with woodland type paths. Couple of short hills. The drinks, ice pops, sweets and chocolate were very welcome at the end. Great atmosphere

It was a really well organised event. Parking, collecting numbers, getting photos and seeing the times after race. However it would’ve been great to have more toilets! Just a row of portaloos were needed behind the event tent. A lot of people ended up having to go in the trees, which no one wants to do before a race! And also maybe another food truck to entice people to stay after. Just having one in the area probably wasn’t enough for all of the people who showed up.

Beautiful setting, serious lack of toilets. Many very annoyed runners missed their start time as they were queuing for the loo

Brilliant day! I wouldn't describe the course as flat, personally. But the inclines are manageable. Beautiful forestry throughout. Supportive marshals, beautiful medal. Well organised. Other runners made me feel very welcomed and safe at my first ever half marathon event. Can't wait for next year!

Pros: - friendly, less corporate than other running events esp the AJ BELL ones - not crowded, ?12 waves for the 10k meant it wasn't crowded at the start - at an arboretum - very helpful marshals. Route was clearly signposted and well explained by the MC guy at the start Cons: - gravel, trail, slight inclines (83m elevation recorded on my strava for the 10k) so, not super fast as a course - the event had not portaloos and women had to queue (me incl) for about 20-25mins for the womens toilets at the entrance to the arboretum - because of the multiple waves, I had no idea when I finished (nor did my bf) of how we did in our gender categories

Very well organized, felt like I was miss lead a little when it said buffet as it wasn’t really a buffet. Also a lot of single use plastics where used durning the race so room for improvement but on the right path.
