Organiser's Description

Join us for The Lord of the Rings (LOTR) style run. Whether you love or hate it come join us anyway by going on an Adventure across the Thames

All abilities are welcome at our super-inclusive events and we also welcome walkers too.

Distance & Time: This is a 7hr Time Challenge event which allows you full control over the distance you want to run. The minimum distance is 5km, which is part of a lap. A full lap is 4.37 miles (7km) and you can run as many or as few of these laps as you wish in the 7hr time limit which starts from the official event start time. It is 3 laps for a half marathon, 6 for a marathon and 7 or over for an ultra, we also have a 50km distance available.

Course: The course along a beautiful stretch of the River Thames. It is fully signed so no navigational experience is required. The course is a mixture with approximately 60% of it on a well-made path / tarmac. The remainder is grass and light trail which can get muddy at certain times of the year. Road shoes can be used all year round but if you prefer the extra grip on the trail sections then trail shoes can be worn.

The regular course is subject to some change near the time of the event depending on our health and safety review of the course and council / land owner final approval.

Medals: As long as you complete one lap, you will be an official finish and you will receive our fantastic medal.

Goody Bag: Absolutely! You earned the calories after all, so all our finishers get a goody bag. As well as our standard goody bag, with a selection of various goodies to choose from, we also have a fabulous vegan goody bag for our vegan runners.

Distance Pins: We have distance pins available for anyone who runs a half-marathon distance or more. Pins available to collect are our Half-Marathon, Mega-Half, Marathon, 50km and Ultra pins. You will receive one pin on the ribbon of your medal to reflect your achievement.

Aid Table: We have a fantastic aid table and drinks table at the start / finish of each lap. There is a great selection of savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan items at the aid table.

Special Event: If our event is a special event for you, for instance your 50th, 99th, 100th, 200th, 250th etc., half or full marathon then please let us know. You will receive a special running number with your name on it and the date of the event. Also, if it is your birthday run then again please let us know as we have a fabulous special birthday number for you too.

Toilets & Changing Facilities: There are toilets and changing / shower facilities available at the race HQ.

Final Instructions / Number pick up: Final race day instructions will be sent out via email 4-5 days prior to the event with full race day information. Number pick up is on the day at race registration before the start of the event.

Parking: There is some limited free parking in streets near to the venue. Alternatively, there are plenty of public car parking spaces nearby. You can also often find much cheaper parking if you arrange parking online.

Other Info: There will be somewhere to leave a bag at the start / finish area. However, this is not a secure bag and the items cannot be watched at all times so please don't leave anything valuable.

Headphones are allowed.

Really lovely people and a very friendly atmosphere. No marshals on the course so you do have to actually look out for the turn around point, which I managed to miss on the first lap, but that was my fault, it's not like it was hidden. You pass the aid table every 2 miles or so so lots of enthusiastic support to be had. I'll definitely run with Saturn Running again. And the medal looks great!

This was my 1st time running with Saturn running and may I say what a pleasurable experience it was the venue was lovely the people very friendly and it is so lovely not having time restraints the laid back approach to the start time is a blessing and really does take a lot of stress off also the medal is one of the best I have from my years of doing different events anybody who hasn't run with Saturn running I suggest they do I will be seeing them again on Friday the 13th October and I can't wait
