Participants will kick off their adventure on the beautiful beach at Tynemouth Haven, diving into two laps of an invigorating swim course in the mouth of the Tyne. This unique swim includes an Australian style exit and re-entry, making it a thrilling challenge. After the swim, athletes will dash past the historic Collingwood Monument towards the vibrant redevelopments of North Shields Fish Quay. The scenic riverside promenade leads them back along the North pier, with the majestic North Sea as their companion. As participants cross the finish line, they'll be greeted by the iconic Priory, a fitting end to an unforgettable day of sport, camaraderie, and achievement. Organiser's Description
Set in the shadow of Tynemouth Priory, the Mouth of the Tyne Aquathlon is a new event in the North East Multi-Sport calendar, but one which will surely take its place on many people's 'to do' list, due to its iconic setting.
Participants will start on the beach at Tynemouth Haven and complete two laps of a swim course in the mouth of the Tyne, including an Australian style exit and re-entry after the first lap. From there they will run past Collingwood Monument towards the redevelopments of North Shields Fish Quay. They will then return along the riverside promenade, past the start, and run along the North pier with the North Sea at their sides. On completing their run to and from the pier all participants will finish once again with the Priory looking down on them.
