Marathon Mayhem. Not a great start upon arrival, despite paying £5 & being almost an hour early there was no parking & no sign of a Marshall, people driving to end of path & turning around, eventually they open another car park, unfortunately for those parked in there we were directed the wrong way round course to start (sign wrong way round) around a dozen of us realised & jogged towards start where we got near & was told to get off track as they were starting & we were against the flow, onto the wet soggy ground we go as the race starts. It’s chipped so no worries they say, ok sure enough but terrible start & several sections of path was still frozen. If this was a Parkrun it would have been cancelled for sure & can’t help thinking that with money paid it was a decision made financially rather than sensibility, if the race was delayed by say an hour it would have allowed the morning frost to have thawed although it was bitterly cold all morning. The marshalls deserved medals, they were superb. Unfortunately one guy fell over in the ice & he looked in a bad way with a bash to the head but the ambulance was quick on the scene. The food/drink tent was great & well used by me.

Foggy delight - Marathon. This was a new type of marathon for me and had my doubts to whether I would enjoy it. I have to say the entire day was excellently well planned and organised, the support team were top notch and their level of encouragement and enthusiasm was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed it, even if I could see where I was going through the fog.

No atmosphere 10k. 10k started at 08:45 - despite frost forecast the path hadn’t been gritted so lots of pockets of ice. Event details say there’s music every mile there isn’t. The feed station is right next to the end of the first lap and only one Marshall out on the course for the rest of the 5km lap. The marathon starting after the 10k finishes means that you are finishing your 10k having to run through people walking around the finish line waiting for the marathon. Medal, goodie bag and photos are great but otherwise was an incredibly boring event wouldn’t do it again.
