Organiser's Description

Now in its 68th year, this 1.8 mile open water swim starts adjacent to Sandown Pier, and follows the Sandown to Shanklin Bay stretch of stunning coastline, which is lined by dramatic sandstone cliffs. The race ends on the beach outside the Shanklin Rowing Club, by the site of the old Shanklin Pier that was destroyed in the gales of 1987.

The route takes in beautiful sandy beaches, and the Esplanade walk that tracks the swim route has many lovely cafés - perfect for family and friends who come along to watch, and for a post-swim lunch!
