Organiser's Description

Online registration has now closed, however you can register on the day also from 8.30am!

We are delighted to welcome the return of the hugely popular Run Frimley on Sunday 30th April 2023. The event has always attracted a strong community following with over 1,000 runners taking part year on year. The event is comprised of a 10k and 5k road race (featuring chip timing for all participants) and our new 1 mile ‘colourful’ family fun run.

We have made the decision to change the location of Run Frimley to a NEW permanent home at Frimley Lodge Park. There were some real positives about previously using the MOD site next to the hospital, but we were unable to find an agreement this year for a less restrictive on-site entry process, which previously led to a very slow and limiting start to our event.

With the aim to enhance accessibility to all and improve the event experience for both our runners and spectators we feel that Frimley Lodge Park is the ideal location. Our new venue has a host of facilities already on-site and will also provide our runners with brand-new and exciting road running routes to achieve new PB’s and set yourself new challenges.

Exciting new routes coming soon…

New for this year – Our Fun Run made Fun!
We have made the decision to make our annual fun run just that……….fun! Historically this has been a 2.5k chipped time event that was sometimes as competitive as the 10k event itself! We wanted to move away from this and make the event more family accessible for anyone of any age and of any ability to take part in and just have fun.

We’ve removed the chip timing element of the run and reduced the distance to just 1 mile. The course will stay within the grounds of the event village which means everyone can watch and cheer loudly to all those taking part. What is even more exciting is that we are making this event super colourful and will need your help too! They’ll be powdered paint just as you will have seen at other colour runs and bubbles for all the runners to enjoy and embrace as you run together. Where we need your help is to add even more colour. We want to see the wackiest, craziest, and the most colourful runners we ever seen!

As we want this to be the whole family taking part together, we are also giving free entry to the fun run to anyone who takes part in either the 10k or 5k race. The 10k and 5k race will start and finish before the start of the fun run, just so we don’t add any tired legs to the main event, so really, you have no excuse! Please note, there will be a limited number of medals available for this route.

Get that face paint on, dust out that ultraviolet top, put on those shorts you’ve always been told you can’t wear outside the house! Bring the colour, bring the laughter and most of all, bring the fun!

faqs

Race entry

All runners signed up will be added to a pre-approved list of attendees, when you arrive, please ensure you are wearing your wrist band sent to you for entry. If you would like any friends or family added to this pre-approved list, please indicate when registering or let us know by 31 May. Anyone not on the pre-approved list and turning up on the day (both runners and spectators) will need to bring a form of ID with you to sign into the venue (driving license or passport). Children (<18) are not required to do this.

Water Bottles

Please bring a water bottle which you’ll be able to refill at the event village. Because we want to be as sustainable as possible, we will not be providing plastic water bottles at this event. We will have water points along the 5km and 10km route where we will have recyclable cups.

Is there an age limit?

For the 10km route, children must be 15 years of age or over to take part. For the 5km route, children must be 11 years of age or over to take part. For the Fun Run there are no age restrictions for participation but under-9s must be always accompanied by an adult.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately, no. We cannot be responsible for their welfare and landowners have asked us not to bring dogs onto their land, which we must respect.

Be prepared, it is very hilly. It’s an out and back route and you definitely need to save some energy for the way back. The start area was very good and the Marshalls were great. Some very tight corners and you end up running the last couple of km with the tail end of the 5k race, which was a bit frustrating as it required a bit of weaving. Not a PB course I would say, but challenging.

Good vibe in the event village, quick and easy collection of bib number, friendly and helpful volunteers. Route was quite hilly though.
