Get ready for an exhilarating adventure at the Scafell Sky Race, taking place on Saturday, June 8th, 2019, in the stunning surroundings of Ambleside! This incredible race is a true test of nerve, skill, and endurance as participants tackle a grueling 40 kilometers of challenging mountain terrain, featuring a staggering ascent of 3,500 meters.
The newly designed circular route showcases the breathtaking beauty of the Lake District, guiding runners from the iconic National Trust's Stickle Barn over majestic fells and through serene valleys. Along the way, competitors will summit England’s highest peak, experiencing some of the most technical trails in the region. With a competitive spirit in the air, the fastest runners are set to cross the finish line in under five hours, while all participants will have up to 11 hours to complete the course. Upon finishing, runners will be rewarded with a delicious finisher's meal and a unique bottle of limited edition Scafell Sky Race Cowmire Hall cider. Scafell Sky Race is a serious test of nerve, skill and endurance. 40k of mountain terrain and 3500m ascent: Scafell Sky Race is played out on technical, single-track and scree trails from start to finish. This a classic skyrunning route to be reckoned with. The circular 'newly designed' route allows you to run from the iconic National Trust's Stickle Barn over Lakeland fells and through Lakeland valleys, whilst you summit England’s highest mountain on route and traverse some of the most challenging trails in the central Lake District.
The fastest runners will cross the finish line in under five hours. Realistic cut-off times mean that our final finishers have up to 11 hours to make it back to race base, where you’ll be welcomed with a hearty finisher’s meal and your own bottle of limited edition Scafell Sky Race Cowmire Hall cider.
