Attracting over 11,000 participants and 30,000 spectators each year, this iconic triathlon has become a must-do event in the sporting calendar. With a variety of distances, routes and wave categories to choose from, the event caters for athletes of all levels, from first-time triathletes to Olympic champions - everyone is welcome at the London Triathlon.

The London Triathlon takes place at the ExCeL Centre, Royal Victoria Dock and has a unique urban route that allows participants to swim, bike and run past the iconic landmarks of our capital. SuperSprint, Sprint, Olympic and Olympic Plus distances.


400m swim, 10 km bike, 2.5 km run
750m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
1500m swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run
1500m swim, 80 km bike, 10 km run

What kit do I need on the day?

For course entry and registration:

  • Security wristband
  • Photo ID

For the Triathlon:

  • Neoprene Wetsuit
  • Goggles
  • Towel
  • Bicycle - With your race number affixed
  • Bicycle Helmet -With your race number affixed
  • Bike water bottle (There are no water points in the bike course)
  • Running shoes
  • GPS Tracker Watch

How do I find out my start time?

Your start time will be posted on the official event website 14 days prior to big day and will also be sent to you as part of your race pack.

What does an entry to the London Triathlon include?

Your entry includes participation on the day and your welcome pack which contains all of the stickers required for your bicycle and helmet, your race number, course and event information guides, your swim cap (to be collected on the day of the event) as well as a finishers medal and an event t-shirt.

Can I use headphones for music during the triathlon?

The safety of The London Triathlon competitors is paramount, so the use of headphones or personal music players is not permitted. This is to ensure that all competitors can instruction from race marshalls and can hear fellow racers.

Are wetsuits mandatory for the triathlon?

Wetsuits must be worn to ensure the safety of all competitors. You may choose to wear short or surf wetsuits, however, triathlon wetsuits are recommended for optimal performance and comfort.

When can I find out my finish time?

The official London Triathlon website will be instantly posting the finishing times on the day of the event. You will also receive an official confirmation of your finish time texted to the mobile provided upon signing up.
