Organiser's Description

A world class course and superb atmosphere that grows year on year. Great crowds support the race along the stunning course which takes in views across Cardigan Bay, Snowdon & Bardsey Island as well as the unique exhilarating finish along Abersoch beach with bar and live music for your post race entertainment!

Always a superb Abersoch event, spectators come just for the atmosphere and lots of celebrations afterwards. This is the final race of the Abersoch Triple Crown.

Hopalong Abersoch Half Marathon Race Information
There will be water and energy drink stations located for all runners at 5.7 miles, 8.7 miles, 11.3 miles and the final station at the finish line.

All half marathon runners get an official race T-shirt and all finishers are presented with Zinc Alloy top quality race medals with bespoke lanyards, water & energy drinks. The event will also run on the same day as the Abersoch Holiday Homes 2K Beach Blast

Minimum age for entry is 17 on the day of the race
Registrants must be capable of completing the full distance, start line to finish line, within the event time requirement of 3 hours 15 minutes
Runners will not hold the race organiser responsible for any injury or loss
Registrants understand that the final decision for the commencement of the race to go ahead on the day is that of the race organisers “Sensation Group” only.
All registrants must agree to the race Terms & Conditions when entering

Course Details

The Abersoch Half Marathon boasts a world class course with a fantastic mix of roads, tracks, some hills and the legendary glorious finish along Abersoch beach.

COURSE: A fast sweeping course along country lanes around the Sarn Bach, Llanengan & Llangian areas. Road closures on key sections of the course for added safety and enjoyment.

THE VIEWS: This course is stunning, so while you’re running don’t forget to take in the scenery. Views of Cardigan Bay, St Tudwal’s Islands, Hell’s mouth & Bardsey Island, Abersoch itself & the golf course. This is one of the many reasons it is an exhilarating memorable race. What's Included

All runners will receive a pre-race pack with details of the race route, timings and where to pick up their race bib. Race bibs will be collected Friday evening before the race.

How to Get There

By Car- To get to Abersoch you will need to take the A55 North Wales Expressway. Stay on the A55 until J10 for Bangor and take the A4087 towards Caernarfon. Join the new Caernarfon and Bontnewydd bypass and follow signs to Abersoch. You’ll drive through the Pwllheli and Llanbedrog and then arrive in Abersoch.

You will be able to drive into Abersoch village up until 10am ahead of the road closure for the race. The start of the race is on Lon Pen Cei, at the Inner Harbour.

Parking

Parking- Due to limited parking space, we ask you to arrive with plenty of time before the event, and wherever possible, please car share. Parking is available at the Lon Golf or by the school, along the one-way system. Both car parks are pay and display. You will need to walk through the village to the start line.

There is parking available in the village in multiple locations, including the Beach car park and the school car park. Car parks are pay and display.

Location

The start is on Lon Pen Cei in the centre of the village overlooking Abersoch’s outer harbour. You’ll need to walk past The Vaynol Arms and Manana Restaurant to get there.

The start for the Abersoch Holiday Homes 2K Beach Blast starts at 9:00am and the start for the Hopalong Abersoch Half Marathon starts at 10:00am.

THERE ARE SOME ENTRIES AVAILABLE FOR BOTH THE HALF AND THE 2K BEACH RACE VIA REGISTRATION TONIGHT AT THE VAYNOL FROM 5PM – 9PM OR FROM RACE CONTROL AT THE BEACH (BOTTOM OF LON GOLFF) ON THE MORNING OF THE RACE FROM 7:00AM – 9:45AM

TERMS & CONDITIONS All entrants must abide by the race T&C’s. These can be read during the entry process or you can

RACE PACKS These are only sent out via email containing all the information & final instructions you need in preparation for race day. It includes details of where to register and to collect your race bib with timing tag.
These are to be collected from The Vaynol in Abersoch on Friday 22nd Oct between 5pm and 9pm or on the morning of the race at Race Control by the beach cafe on Abersoch beach from 7am.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU CAN’T ATTEND REGISTRATION This is important if you don’t think you will have time to register & collect your race bib in good time before the race starts.

Nominate Someone to attend the registration & collect your number for you.
Your nominee needs to provide a letter written and signed by you, giving permission for them to collect your number, or a copy of your original online order.
Your nominee also needed to bring some identification (for example, their passport or driving license).

MEDALS & SUSTENANCE Zinc Alloy top quality race medals with bespoke lanyards, water & energy drinks & items like banana’s & Mars bars will be given to all Half Marathon finishers

TIMING All runners will be provided with a D-Tag timing chip located on the back of their running number, This will record your individual time from when you personally cross the start line to when you cross the finish lines.
We will also be recording your 10K time which will be available within your times after the race.

RESULTS Full results will be available shortly after completion of the race.

DRINK STATION There will be water & energy drink stations at 5.7 miles, 8.7 miles, 11.3 miles and at the finish.

THE START The start is on Lon Pen Cei in the centre of the village overlooking the outer harbour. You’ll need to walk past The Vaynol Arms and Manana Restaurant to get there. It is important you are there 15 minutes before the start gun at 10:00am.

NO HEADPHONE RULE NOW IN FORCE: The UK Athletics Association is now enforcing the rule that no headphones are allowed on any course that isn’t 100% closed off to traffic, which includes the Abersoch Half Marathon. They have the power to disqualify anyone caught using them during the race.
