Organiser's Description

Welcome to the Centurion Triathlon – the Vesuvius of multi-sport racing in south-east England!

We have several choices for you, the Centurion, the Legionnaire and the AquaBikus!

The Centurion Distance consists of a 1.9km swim next to Blue House Farm Nature Reserve on the River Crouch, an 87km cycle taking athletes into the peaceful Essex countryside and finishes with an 15km lapped run based around North Fambridge village with huge support from the local community.

The Legionnaire Distance meanwhile, consists of a 950m swim in the same waters, a 40km cycle, finishing with a 7.5km run.

Aquabikers can also take on the AquaBikus challenge of the 1.9km swim, finishing with the 87km bike.

Course Details

The race starts and finishes at Fambridge Yacht Station

CENTURION SWIM
You’ll need all your armour for the swim, which is 2 laps of a river swim course on the River Crouch next to Blue House Farm Nature Reserve. Please note this is a tidal river and will be more challenging than a typical open water or pool swim. Wetsuits are likely to be compulsory and the Swim Cut-Off is strictly 1 hour and 10 minutes after the start time

LEGIONNAIRE SWIM
A 950m swim on the same course.

CENTURION BIKE
Helmets in place, as combatants follow the 87km cycle course that takes you out of North Fambridge and left onto Lower Burnham Rd, where you’ll enjoy a fast 10k ride out and back to South Woodham Ferrers. Passing North Fambridge again you’ll head out to Burnham-on-Crouch before starting two laps around the quite roads of the Dengie peninsula. You will experience a fast and flat course over the marshes, interspersed with a few short, sharp climbs, before returning to North Fambridge. Cut off – 7 Hours after start.

THE LEGIONNAIRE SPRINT BIKE
The Legionnaires will undertake a fast 40K Bike course as an out and back on to Southminster

CENTURION RUN
The Run course is situated around North Fambridge Village. Here spectators will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the triathlon. 2 laps

THE LEGIONNAIRE RUN
A single lap of the run course totalling 7.5km run

What's Included

There will be an informal baggage drop area for you to leave any belongings within the transition area.

There will be toilets available.

Water will be provided on the run route and at the finish. Full info will be provided in the final details.

The swim

Please note this is a tidal river swim and will be more challenging than a typical open water or pool swim. Wetsuits are likely to be compulsory and the Swim Cut-Off is strictly 1 hour 10 minutes after the start time.

Race numbers will be collected at the the event venue on the morning of the race.

Registration opens at: 05:30am

The day license for Non-BTF members is included in the entry price.

There will be an online race briefing made available before the event, it is mandatory to have watched this as there will be no pre-race briefing on the day.

Please arrive in sufficient time to collect your race number

Custom designed medal for all finishers!
Add a medal insert to commemorate your time; whether it’s your first race or a new PB! Available to purchase for an additional £8.
Simply add MEDAL INSERT on your registration form and you’ll be sent the insert in the mail shortly after race day, for you to apply to your medal and display proudly!

There will be a prize giving to the top male and female finisher in each race on the day

There will be full results on the chip timing website both overall and by category.

Health
It is important that you are fit to run and have not experienced any Covid-19 symptoms in the 14 days leading up to the event.

Race Numbers
Please wear your number pinned to the front and back of your vest or alternatively, using a race belt, rotate the race number to the back for the bike leg and the front for the run leg.

Parking
£2 fee for parking payable on the day as a charity donation.

Changing Facilities
We will not be providing a changing area, therefore please come changed and ready to race.

Baggage Drop
There will be an informal baggage drop area for you to leave any belongings within the transition area.

Toilets
There will be toilets available.

Water Station
A feed station will be available on the Centurion bike course and water will be provided on the run route and at the finish. Full info will be provided in the final details.

Relay Team

Relay entries should be completed with lead entrant’s details only. Additional team members’ details will be taken at Registration on the day
