Organiser's Description

We’re bringing events back to Draycote Water with COVID-safe measures; beginning with a three-race series of evening 5K/10Ks in June, July and August, the popular 7 at Severn, and a return to our monthly 2nd Sunday events with a 10K in August (alternative distances to follow in later months).

To celebrate the return of 7 at Severn on Wednesday 7 July, we’ll be offering both the 7am and 7pm races of 7K, one lap around the water. Do the double and you’ll get a souvenir 7 at Severn buff as well as your twinset of medals.

All races are capped at 250 runners until Run Britain guidance changes, so enter early to avoid disappointment!

Never run at Draycote Water before? It’s Warwickshire's best kept secret for road runners, offering stunning reservoir and countryside views. Running alongside the water, using dam wall pathways and a perimeter service road, you'll find mesmerising views of nature trails, wildlife, and boats on the water as you notch up the kilometres.

Some short inclines and downhill stretches keep the landscape changing around you, so you won’t get tired of your surroundings, even as you dig into the later stages of a race.

You'll feel amazing energy from your fellow runners as you make your way around the water towards a glorious home straight, where we'll be waiting with a finisher medal and post-race refreshments.

Located three miles south of Rugby and less than 15 minutes from the M1, this secluded site is gloriously peaceful and breath-taking in all seasons. Get yourself out of the city and discover Draycote Water - enter online to guarantee your place.

COVID-19 Mitigation

These measures, together with other Covid-related requirements at our events, may be subject to revision in response to any change in the current public health guidance issued by the government or regulatory bodies.

NHS Test and Trace will be in operation at our events. Participants will be required to complete a health declaration prior to arrival and to check-in where possible using the NHS COVID-19 app (available to download in advance for iOS or Android). Any information obtained will be held for 21 days after an event only and will not be used for any other purpose. Participants may not be permitted on site if they fail to follow this process, the full details of which will be communicated in the week leading up to an event.

One-way navigation and social distancing signage will be present on site to facilitate adherence to official guidance. Queue markers must be observed at all times and sanitisation stations used as frequently as necessary.

Unless there have been any changes following communication of the final pre-event information, there will be no event briefing on the day. Participants should read the communication thoroughly to familiarise themselves with the event details.

Participants will start individually at 10-15 second intervals to maintain social distancing, with a recommended 15-minute arrival window allocated and communicated prior to the event. Participants from the same household/bubble will be permitted to start together (if participating in the same distance/category) and should follow the relevant instructions to arrive and/or start at the later of any times communicated (if different). Whilst running, participants should only overtake when there is enough room (at least 1m) to do so.

Once finished, participants should continue moving and follow signage and marshal directions to keep the area clear for other finishers. Any post-event rewards (medal, water etc.) will be self-service (following hand-sanitisation) to ensure there is no contact amongst staff and participants.

Participants are asked to review the UKA Participant Code of Conduct prior to their arrival.

Event Details

The Route is generally flat with a few short inclines, entirely on tarmac paths, and consists of laps around the reservoir. These events are suitable for runners of all abilities.

Results will be uploaded live to our website (internet connection permitting) and communicated to all pre-registered participants within 24 hours of each event.

All finishers will receive a Medal on completing their event and, subject to a competitive field of participants, Prizes will be awarded to the top three places overall - and the top place in each of the veteran categories (V40/V50/V60/V70) - for both females and males at each distance. Winners will be notified by email by the end of the following week.

Marshals will be present on the course throughout each event.

Course Markings, including arrows, tape, and distance markers, will be visible on the course where necessary.

Other Information

As UK Athletics licensed events, the pushing of persons in any device is prohibited under the UKA Rules of Competition (including, but not limited to, a Wheelchair, Buggy, Pushchair, Stroller or similar). Such devices are permitted in the Santa Dash only.

As part of our ongoing COVID response, to ensure the opportunities for social distancing are maximised, Spectators are strongly discouraged at these events.

Participants must not be accompanied by a personally owned or controlled Dog during an event. Entries may be accepted from participants with medical assistance dogs, subject to them being correctly registered and identifiable as such, and subject to prior approval by the Event Director.

These events are suitable for Wheelchair Users.

Noise-cancelling Earphones/Headphones are prohibited and, whilst we discourage the use of other earphones/headphones for those competing in running events, participants choosing to use them should ensure they are set to a low enough volume that instructions from marshals and/or other event officials can be clearly understood. We reserve the right to disqualify participants who cannot hear instructions as a result of their use.

Since these events take place at a venue open to the public, participants should remain vigilant of each other, spectators, marshals, cyclists, dogs, and other users of public footpaths and rights of way at all times.

With respect to a Time-Limit for these events, in order that we adhere to the restrictions imposed by the venue hire agreement, it may be necessary for us to begin deconstruction of the course and/or start/finish area at the times stated to facilitate our departure from the premises by the agreed time. If participants are unable to complete their event by this time, they may be asked to end their participation early.

Beautiful medal. I ran it in March 2020. Well organized, good facilities, I ran the 10k distance - one lap around the reservoir- perfect. There’s a cafe and playground where family can spend time while runners run. Definitely recommend

Excellent race. This was only my second official race and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It began with everybody shivering at the start line, which got strangers chatting away, so the atmosphere was already high. The route is pretty nice with spectacular views over the reservoir. The facilities are decent too. The post race goodies are nicely different with no needless plastic bags. I'm definitely coming back to do the route again to see how my performance changes, not only that they have different distances which is exciting. I'd just make sure you're there early enough for a parking spot, and definitely car share wherever possible. Although the marshals were easy to follow to where else you could park.

Nice race. Raced on a very windy day but the course is very nice good view with the water & boats. Average race however liked the socks at the end rather than a T sh

Well organised, good facilities and great atmosphere. Second 10k series at Draycote Water, really enjoyed it. Plenty of parking space, queues were minimal for all facilities, well organised friendly staff and lovely views on the way round the course.

Good event but no t-shirt. This was my first ever 10k and found it to be well organised and instructed. Was very disappointed at the end though to find out that they no longer do the T-shirt’s!

Not a flat race. Beautiful location, however this is not a flat run, which I was disappointed at because it had be sold as a flat run. We’re quite new to doing these run and the distances, so are just deliberately looking for flat ones until we’re stronger runners.

Brilliantly organised event. I completed my first Draycote water 10k on November 10th. The course was brilliantly marshalled with clear markers throughout. Registration was efficient and the team were so friendly. Fantastic post race goodies and really liked the option of running socks vs. finishers t-shirt. I will be definitely signing up for the Draycote series in 2020.

Great event. This was my first time at this event and only my 2nd ever 10k race . It's a nice flat course and good for first timers. Great venue, great organisation of the event (just shame about the weather) but it wont stop me coming again hopefully next time the sun will be shining.

First Draycote 10k. I found this race well organised and the scenery was an added bonus. The description of the course describes it as flat but there a couple of steep inclines but did not spoil the morning run. I found it very enjoyable and I’ll definitely be back.

Draycote Water 10K August. This was my first 10K at Draycote Water and I found that it a good race with lots of things to look at whilst running, it is mostly flat but with some hills to keep it interesting. It is a well organised race with lots of Marshall's and a nice medal. I will so this one again!

My first 10k. Well what can I say apart from overall massively pleased! This is the first event based race I’ve done so wasn’t quite sure what to expect, however I wasn’t disappointed! The members of staff that were there are easy to approach and very responsive to questions I had to ask them, and such a great location to have the run. Was a challenge for myself as my longest distance I had ran to date before the race was 6k so this was a bit of a jump however the energy and motivation from the others runners and staff on the checkpoints will you on I’ve broken previous averages and overall distance. Would highly recommend any runners or new runners to try this event out in the future as it’s one il be doing again!

Great venue. Well organised, great scenery for a 10k and bonus is it’s only one lap! Mostly flat and good for a PB. Would do it again and recommend to others!

Great place for a PB. Great route for a 10k, undulating but mostly flat. Quiet and all off road with a nice reservoir to look at whilst running. Very enjoyable, very friendly venue only downside is all the billions of midges, and don't forget £4 for parking! Goodies at the end make up for it :)
