Forest and Moors Marathon

Dalby Forest, North Yorkshire

Adderstone car park, Dalby Forest

Sun 22nd September 2019

Organiser's Description

Marathon and half marathon, also a simple and not too challenging 10k run around the Adderstone area of Dalby Forest along forest tracks. These are stunning routes at any time of the year but reach their peak in the Autumn, with the richness of colours in the forest and on the moors.

All three routes start and finish in the 'Great Yorkshire Forest' from the Adderstone car park in Dalby Forest. The marathon and half head through the Forest, with extensive views when descending Stoneclose Rigg, enabling you to catch your breath before the sharp climb out of Staindale and up to the Fox and Rabbit Pub. Then it's down the pleasant meanderings of Cross Dale, then to up Newtondale and its challenge of ups and downs and the occasional (depends on the weather) mud of Levisham Woods. Onwards and upwards to Levisham Elbow, where the courses split.

thoroughly enyoyable day. good points: -well marshalled,at busy road crossings they made sure you crossed safely -water stations at regular points -free refreshments at finish(plus medal) -good course(very hilly, with great views) bad points: -only 4 portaloos(not 100% working or clean) So with only one minor bad point i will definitely run it next year
