G3 - no 2

Sat 31st January 2026

A person wearing a red tank top and black shorts runs up a grassy hill at sunrise. The background features a scenic view of a valley with fields and trees, bathed in warm, golden light. A group of people, including children, are running on a dirt path through a wooded area. They are dressed in athletic gear and appear to be participating in a casual race or jog. Bare trees line the path under an overcast sky. A serene forest path covered in fallen autumn leaves, surrounded by tall trees with branches swaying gently. The leaves display shades of orange, yellow, and green, creating a vibrant and peaceful scene under a softly lit sky. Sunlight streams through the branches of tall trees in a serene forest, casting long, soft rays onto the forest floor covered in leaves. The scene is tranquil, with shadows and light creating a peaceful atmosphere. A wooden gate opens to a dirt path leading through a frosty field towards a distant farmstead. Bare branches frame the foreground, with rolling hills and a cloudy sky creating a serene, rural landscape in the background. Three people are running on a muddy trail through a rural area with rolling hills and trees in the background. They are wearing athletic gear and bib numbers, focusing on their run. The weather appears overcast, and there are fences and a gate along the path. A group of runners wearing athletic gear are jogging on a narrow dirt trail through a forest with sparse vegetation. The trail is lined with leafless trees, and the ground is covered in dry, brown underbrush. The runners are moving uphill. A rugged dirt trail with rocks and uneven terrain is seen leading downhill. A yellow sign that reads "CAUTION STEEP DESCENT" lies on the ground beside the path. Bushes and grassy areas surround the trail. The scene is illuminated by bright sunlight. Panoramic view of a sunny landscape with a dirt path on the right, flanked by a wooden fence. Trees line the path, and in the distance, rolling hills and valleys are visible under a clear blue sky.

Organiser's Description

20 years on and the G3 off road race is still the best and toughest winter trail run in the South East. With cracking views from the start, the route crosses meadows, descends steep, muddy hills, climbs on deep sandy trails and passes through beech and pine forests. And that's just the half of it! The return is more of the same, ending with a tough climb to the finish line!

Bitterly cold, driving rain. Rivers of water, thick mud, punishing climbs, treacherous descents…Wonderful! clear signage, friendly Marshalls and really well organised race, thoroughly recommend.
