Inca Trail Marathon
Organiser's Description
The Inca Trail Marathon is sometimes referred to as the toughest marathon in the world and the most stunning in South America.
The route is a hard trail with a number of steep sections. The surface is mainly Inca paved stone with some dirt sections and a few rocky places where runners may need to be careful.
Runners start from near the Llactapata Inca ruins. Although tough throughout, the first half of the race is a relatively moderate and steady climb. This is followed by a very steep climb to Warmiwanusqa (Dead Woman's Pass) which is more than compensated by amazing views including memorably scenic waterfalls. After Warmiwanusqa the route is predominantly downhill with some brief uphill sections, ultimately arriving at the finish line at the amazing Machu Picchu.
* Entry Fee : from US$ 2745 for a 10-day package tour.
