Organiser's Description

This was a new route in 2018 and is no easy task - 32 miles with 10,000ft of vertical elevation, and no rest, as it ascends peak after peak and pass after pass. Starting in the beautiful Lakeland village of Grasmere, the route climbs steadily, before the sharp ascent to the summit of Loughrigg signals this event's intentions!

The steep climb up Wansfell is followed by the fast descent into Troutbeck. Garburn Pass is the first of the five passes, then the never ending slog up Gatescarth Pass is waiting. The summit of Harter Fell is the high point of the race. A scree descent to Thresthwaite Mouth and a technical scramble up Stoney Cove Pike, then a long descent to St Ravens Crag and Kirkstone Pass. One final tough ascent before taking Scandale Pass down and finally picking up the Coffin Route to the finish back at Grasmere.
