Organiser's Description

Run our award winning marathon with thousands of other runners. Our England Athletics affiliated event is measured to a world wide standard and is a qualifying event for London, Boston and other majors.

We’re blessed with a tremendous amount of natural beauty in Milton Keynes. We’re also lucky to have a world-class system of cycle paths. Marathon Details

Our multi-award winning marathon is consistently ranked in the top 10 UK marathons. The majority of the MK Marathon route is incredibly green and scenic. It includes beautiful parks and lakes, picturesque villages and canal towpath, and offers a truly spectacular experience for our runners.

An AIMS/IAAF Grade A certified race, with BARR Gold accreditation for outstanding race management, and an amazing stadium finish. We’re also a qualifying race for the 2021 Abbott WMM Age Group World Championships!

The MK Marathon starts from one of our fabulous Milton Keynes landmarks, the stadiumMK. The first five miles are on wide roads and tree-lined boulevards, giving runners a chance to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy some enthusiastic spectator support.

The marathon route then continues through picturesque Woughton-on-the-Green and Woolstone parishes, where the half marathoners split from the full marathon course at mile seven.

The marathon runners continue through the original Milton Keynes Village, renowned for it’s picture-postcard thatched cottages and then on to enjoy the beauty of Willen Lake and the tranquility of the Peace Pagoda before looping back to join the meandering and historic grand union canal. The route will then take in St Andrews, a 13th Century church, before passing the Bradwell Windmill, built-in 1810 at around mile 18.

The route continues west to Bancroft where it passes the remains of an ancient Roman Villa. Runners will then head south, following the brook, passing the famous Concrete Cows and then Bradwell Abbey, built in the 14th century.

The route follows the brook further south, through the fertile Loughton Valley Park, passing Lodge Lake and then Teardrop Lakes before heading back for a victory lap of the stadium pitch and that magical stadium finish!

Superhero Brioche Fun Run

The Superhero Fun Run is a fantastic event for runners (or walkers!) of all ages and abilities. Experience what being a superhero is all about as you cross the stadium finish line cheered by thousands of admiring spectators.

Dress Code - Superhero costume essential!

This 2.6k event is a very colourful and fun addition to the MK Marathon event for the whole family.

A drink, Brioche roll and amazing Superhero Medal will be provided for all finishers

Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Superheroes to cross the finish line. The trophies will be presented on the main stage in the race village (outside gate 5).

NOTE: You can push a child in a buggy, but only Superheroes with a running number will get a medal.

Amazing marathon. Having missed out on the London Marathon ballot numerous times, the MK marathon became my first. I cannot say enough good things about it. Great atmosphere and support from the marshals and public, well organised drink stations, lovely route and got to run with some friendly fellow runners. Anyone considering a first marathon or any marathon should do MK!

Fun event. Whilst not one of the top tier marathons in the country, this is a really well organised event, with a reasonable field size and strength and a wonderful route through some parks and round the lakes of MK. Crowds are a little sparse in places, but the little pockets you get make some decent noise with a little encouragement! The course is mainly flat with a few small hills, so good chance of a fast time. Stadium finish was something different! Really enjoyed it. A fun event!
