There are a number of steps we are planning to implement in order to ensure that all our runners, volunteers and other members of public are kept as safe as possible and to minimise risks. These are based upon current government guidance which may change between now and race when we re-open our events. We will refine these steps over the coming weeks based upon changing guidance and feedback.

Should the government Coronavirus alert levels for the UK increase, or should local lockdown measures be implemented for any of our events and these are not able to take place we will then change this event to a virtual challenge.

We will continually evaluate the information provided by the government on the lead up to your event and hopefully we will be able to deliver your live run challenge. We want to communicate these measures to you in advance of the event to ensure that everyone is prepared before race day and that appropriate social distancing is adhered to, before, during and after the race.

The entire race will safely take place outdoors, including the starting area, aid stations and finish area. As such, the risk of transmission associated with the event is already greatly reduced.

General

Runners and volunteers should not turn up at the event if they have; A fever of ≥38°C on the day of the event; Had any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 14 days. Such as a new continuous cough, fever, change/loss of taste/smell; Been in contact with anyone who is sick in the past 14 days;Travelled within the past 14 days to any international location with widespread ongoing local COVID-19 transmission. Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 up to 7 days after the event should report it to the race organiser and we will email everyone who attended so they can make the choice to isolate or test; High risk individuals or anyone quarantining from travel abroad are advised not to attend the event; All volunteers to be provided with face masks which are optional to wear at outdoor events, Nitrile gloves and hand sanitiser; Spectators / supporters are kindly asked if attending the event to not congregrate in the event hub but to watch from around the course to help keep everyone spread out; Runners should consider their safety and the safety of others when travelling to and from the event. Ideally getting someone from their household to drive them, or if using public transport, ensuring that they are following the advice of the operator concerning distancing and face covering.

The weeks leading up to the race

Final instructions will be emailed to runners a week before the race; Race briefing will be provided by video in advance of the race; Race numbers with an attached timing chip will be posted to runners. If entrants do not receive this 2 days out from the event they should get in contact with us; Registration

There will be no on the day registrations. Toilets will be available at the event. Bag drop will be available however all bags must be labelled and placed in bag storage by the runners and then collected by the same runner. Staff will oversee bag storage but will not handle any items.

Race start

Runners will be expected to turn up at the race start with their running numbers attached and visible, and ready to start when instructed by the team; Rolling start – We will have a staggered start for all events. Group sizes and stagger times will be confirmed as soon as we have more information from the government on event allocations.

During race

Runners will be advised to wear a face covering (however it's not enforced at outdoor events) before and after the race and when within the event hub (e.g. Buff, neck gaiter, face mask). The face covering does not have to be worn whilst running between aid stations; Hand sanitiser will be available at the start and finish of the event. Appropriate social distancing should be respected within the event hub and also when on the run. This applies to respecting all other runners and park users. Water will be available at the event hub and runners will be expected to fill their own bottles. All runners must carry their own bottles / bladders i.e camel backs. Volunteers at the water stations will be continually sanitising surfaces touched by the runners.

Finish area

Toilets will be available at the finish area. If they are not available due to restrictions at the venue, suitable local alternatives will be found. Runners will be encouraged to depart the finish area as soon as possible after completing the race. Medals will be laid out on tables for collection by successful runners. Trophies or winners prizes will be handed out promptly rather than at an award ceremony.

Medical cover

The medical team will be located at the start and finish location so they can observe people entering and leaving for monitoring purposes, but will only get involved if they see an issue. The medical team will wear face masks and gloves (as usual) and we will require runners to wear a face mask when we are interacting with them in close proximity and also require them to use gel sanitiser. Refusal to wear a mask or sanitise means the runner won’t be treated unless there is an urgent requirement to treat something serious. Anyone exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms should not attend. If anyone exhibits symptoms at the event they can be asked to leave at the discretion of the medical team via the race director.

It is vital that we adhere to government guidelines to ensure the safety of everyone involved with the race. It goes without saying that any runners who are feeling unwell in the weeks leading up to the event should not be running the race. Here's to bringing live events back and to seeing you all soon. We will make sure we create a safe but fun and super friendly environment for all!

Every runner receives a super cool medal at the finish line

Good park run!

The event was a good number of racers with helpful marshals and clear indications of where to go. Parking and registration was no problem. A few walkers/cyclists and non event runners, but not many and a few challenging stretches of course.

Good way to spend a morning

Never done a 10k before. Thought it was well-organised, good fun and the park is obviously a lovely place to run. Only note I have is that there’s a park run just before which follows the same route - given that it had been raining the night before, this meant some areas of the grass were extra soggy and churned up

Nice race

Well organised race, did the 10k (2 laps). Interesting course with a long uphill for about 2k followed by fast 2k downhill and 1k slow rise. Could have had a bit more advise for slower runners to avoid problems when overtaking!

Great marshalls - organised

Organised with friendly and helpful marshalls and a quick registration. Chip timings instant and a themed medal!

Negatives
- very muddy/pools of water (we were warned) causing lots of bottle necks and the beginning. I feel they could have amended the course
- 2 laps of the same course, less motivating

Great event

Well organised event with very helpful staff. Lovely course through Richmond park and a very enjoyable run. Bag storage wasn't the most secure so wouldn't want to leave valuables. Great event overall and would definitely sign up again!

Emily Upshall / Mar 08, 2020

Not the best

Very expensive for not much more than two laps of a park run

kate mccormack / Feb 23, 2020

Really great event and great course!

I've done both the 5k and 10k and both were brilliant. The course is good (even though the 10k is just two laps of the 5k course), great atmosphere and well organised. Would recommend!

A lovely experience

I was very nervous beforehand as I haven’t ran many 10k’s, but when I arrived it was clear where to go, the whole event was very smooth and lovely to have people waiting at the finish line with medals! Always great to have post workout snacks available too which was a nice treat. Would highly recommend!

Enjoyable Race

This was a good challenge as there is uphills and uneven ground but I enjoyed it alot!
Think there should be a bit more flags around course rather than just the km markers to help with momentum but overall very good! Thank you

Well Organized and a beautiful park to run in

I would surely recommend this run to beginners and advanced runners.

Great event

Well organised event!

Well organised jaunt around Richmond Park

Nicely organised 5/10km around Richmond park. Nice scenery and a nice set-up.

Good route, in which your mostly running down the gradients at Richmond Park as opposed to up them.

Although the organisers said there isn’t much space for parking, it seemed okay for me. Although I did do my run in January, maybe it’s different in spring / summer.

My only criticism would be the number of toilets, especially for females - maybe some additional porter loos to increase capacity would help.

Christopher Recaldin / Jan 26, 2020

Perfect!

Great Event

Great route, staff and organisation. Def recommended!

Sebastian Rosen / Jan 26, 2020

Best stewards ever!!

I absolutely loved this event. The amazing stewards looked after my friends little girl whilst we ran and let her help give out the medals at the end!! Full of brilliant, supportive, encouraging and knowledgable people and an ace course to run.

Gemma Cropper / Jan 26, 2020

A great first event

I had never participated in an event like this so wasn't expecting much but was definitely impressed. The course was nice and challenging (especially with the hills and strong wind) and instructions were clearly and concisely announced to avoid any confusion. The refreshment table at the end was nice touch also. Will be sure to run Richmond park again in the future.

Ross Goodlett / Jan 13, 2020

Well organised as always

An excellently ran event and quite tough course. Tough conditions yesterday windy and wet but always enjoyable to do.

Paul Keenan / Jan 12, 2020

Small but perfectly formed.

Lovely little race well organised and communicated :)

Laura Hitchinson / Jan 12, 2020

A small but amazing race

This was the smallest race I signed up for so far, but boy, did it rise over my expectations! I am sorry I am not living in London, so I could run more often in Richmond, but I will definitely be back again, for another race, to see the park in a different season. Thank you for this great experience.

Great first ever 10K

Beautiful place, great course for the most part, well signed and great organisation from our perspective. Only point is that the end of 5K/10K quite bendy with sharp turns, doesn’t help for a sprint finish. Other than that a fantastic morning!

Jacob Davies / Oct 07, 2019

Fantastic event.

This was my first 10k. I come from the land of runners.. Kenya. It was amazing to see so many participants. A well organised event. I hope to take part in another one when I visit London again.

Farhana Adamji / Oct 06, 2019

My first 10k in Richmond Park

This was my fourth 10K and first in Richmond Park. It is a great place to run and with the weather behaving itself and getting my best time so far, had a great day.

Bharat Mehta / Oct 06, 2019

First ever 5k!

We ran the 5k on Saturday as the graduation run of C25K. It was our first real run with other runners and couldn’t have wished for anywhere better to run it. Everyone we encountered that worked at the event were so friendly and helpful especially as we were totally newbies and 100% we’ll be running again,
But next time hopefully for the 10k. The park is beautiful and the highlight was running past the stags! Couldn’t fault the event from start to finish.

Nikki Elliott / Jul 28, 2019

Scorcher

Loved the event - my first - and intend to do more. The people were great and welcoming and the venue terrific. My one observation is that given the temperatures - it got up to 32 degrees at the back of the course - it might have been prudent to have a water station at the 2.5 km mark

Robert Wainwright / Jun 02, 2019

Simply nice event.

As this was my only second marathon and despite almost having broken my ankle my result was quite good and I was satisfied with the event. Very beautiful location, perfect weather, and everything nicely organized. Only thing I would have wished for more photographers in different spots of track and more photos at the end. But definitely would participate again.

Agnese Pogule / May 20, 2019

A fun & well-organized event

Clear directions on where to arrive, simple check-in process, friendly supporters, adequate markings on distance, appropriate no of water stations, restorative snacks afterwards and lovely medal - all good!
