Organiser's Description

Located at the Stewartby Sailing Club, in Bedford, this venue is perfect for triathlon. You will be treated to a dip in the beautiful lake waters, followed by a very fast, reasonably flat lapped road bike course, finishing with a scenic traffic-free run on paths alongside the lake into Marston Vale Country Park. Options for Standard and Sprint individual and relay triathlon, also standard and sprint aquabike.

This is a mass-start event, and all finishing positions will be calculated based on gun time and not chip time. This is a non-draft legal race for athletes of all abilities.

Course Details

Swim: The Sprint and Standard swim uses a 750m loop of Stewartby lake. The sprint distance consists of one lap of this loop, whereas the standard distance is 2 laps. The supersprint uses a 400m loop.

Bike: The bike course heads out onto a fast and flat road where you will complete either 1, 2 or 4 laps for the supersprint, sprint or standard distances respectively. The supersprint distance totals 12km, the sprint distance totals 20Km and the standard distance totals 37Km. Click the map for the full size image of the Sprint and Standard.

Run: The run heads along trail paths alongside the lake into Marston Vale Country Park. It is a 5km out and back course, which you complete once in the sprint race and twice in the standard race. Click the map for the full size image. The Supersprint will turn at a 2.5km turn point.

Lake swim. Bike is on a flat, fast, road surface. Run is on trail paths.

Distances

Standard Triathlon = 1500m swim, 37k bike ride, 10k run

Sprint Triathlon = 750m swim, 20k bike ride, 5k run

SuperSprint Triathlon = 400m swim, 12k bike ride, 2.5k run

Standard Aquabike = 1500m swim, 37k bike ride

Sprint Aquabike = 750m swim, 20k bike ride

Minimum Age

Standard Triathlon/Aquabike: 17yrs (on 31/12/2022)

SuperSprint & Sprint Triathlon/Aquabike: 15yrs (on 26/6/2022) Parental Consent required

Refunds & Cancellation

Refunds ATW does not offer refunds, transfers or deferrals for this event or any events listed on the website. If you are unable to attend due to illness, injury, family bereavement or jury service, you will only be eligible for a transfer or credit note on production of official evidence: Positive Covid-19 test result, Doctor’s note or equivalent.

Event Cancellation If the event should have to be cancelled due to reasons beyond ATW’s control (for example – but not limited to – adverse weather, local or national lockdown) entrants will be given a credit note for the value of their entry fee (minus the booking fee) to be used on any ATW event.

Registration

Race numbers will be collected at the the event venue on the morning of the race.

Registration open from: 06:30am

BTF Insurance
The day licence for Non-BTF members is included in the entry price. If you are a BTF Member, please ensure that you complete your licence number accurately during the registration process. All licence numbers will be validated by BTF before the event and any entrants with an invalid BTF licence number will be asked to show an online copy at registration or, if this is not possible, invoiced £6 for a day license after the event.

There will be an online race briefing made available before the event, it is mandatory to have watched this as there will be no pre-race briefing on the day.

Please arrive in sufficient time to collect your race number.

Other Race Info

Health
It is important that you are fit to run and have not experienced any Covid-19 symptoms in the days leading up to the event.

Race Numbers
Please wear your number pinned to the front and back of your vest or alternatively, using a race belt, rotate the race number to the back for the bike leg and the front for the run leg.

Parking
Parking is available at the school opposite the lake with a £5 charge payable on the day.

Changing Facilities
We will not be providing a changing area, therefore please come changed and ready to race.

Baggage Drop
There will be an informal baggage drop area for you to leave any belongings within the transition area.

Toilets
There will be toilets available.

Water Station
There will be no water stations on the route (you will need to carry any liquids you need). There will be water available, self-service style, at the finish.

Dogs & Buggies
No dogs and buggies allowed.

Really lovely venue - registration and racking were fuss free. Swim was well marked out - bike course very easy to follow though the wind one way was horrid - dont think the organisers can be blamed for that :-D The run was an out and back with some nice shady bits. Would definitely do this again.
