Sandpit Field, Swanage, BH19 1NR

Sun 3rd July 2022

Starting at 06:00

Organiser's Description

The Original Swanage Triathlon Festival is set in the seaside town of Swanage which resides in an area of outstanding beauty know as The Isle of Purbeck in Dorset.

The open water swim is within Swanage Bay where if the water's are clear, you may be able to spot some great sea life.

The bike section is not for the faint hearted as includes several hill climbs but when you go up, you must come down including a great descent on Kingston Hill!

The run heads North out of Swanage Town and up onto Ballard Down Ridge, an area of chalk downland on the Purbeck Hills.

The routes are challenging but the views are worth it, we promise!

With this many options, its the perfect club getaway weekend where there is something for everyone.

Swanage is wonderful little seaside town with a whole lot for the family to do. This is a true weekend away that happens to involve Triathlon!

  • What time does it start?

First starts will be around 0630. Head to your account to find your specific start time.

  • What are the routes for the Long Swim?

The long swim will be laps. There will be an Aussie exit on each lap. This means you will swim to the shore line, be able to take a drink and run back into the water for your next lap. The routes are on the website however it is always subject to change (weather conditions, number of entrants, etc) The route will be clearly marked by buoys and plenty of kayakers guiding you.

  • How will registration work?

You will register online. About 7 days before event day we will send you an email. You will then need to complete the Competitor Responsibility Statement online. This avoids the queue at number pick up. You must do this otherwise you will not be able to get your race number. If you have missed any email you can find it by going to your account.

  • Do I need a wetsuit?

Yes, we encourage everyone to wear a wetsuit. If you an experienced skins swimmer and taking part in the long swim, we ask that you use a tow float instead of a wetsuit (please bring your own). We also follow BTF rules so if the water temp is between 14 and 22 degrees wetsuits are optional.

  • Where do I find my race number?

Head to and complete the competitor statement and covid screening first. This will then show your race number and start time.

  • Can spectators come?

Yes! Swanage is an awesome weekend to bring the fan club. There will be a coffee van and pizza van at Sandpit field to keep your spectators fed and watered!

Entries to our events are non-refundable. However, we offer transfers (with a minimal fee) to other competitors up to 24 hours before the start of the event.

Event modification

This event involves a SEA SWIM. Your safety is our primary concern so we may be required to change the format of the swim component based on the weather and sea conditions on the day.

This may mean a change in the course, distance you cover or even the withdrawal of the swim component.

As the events use public areas and are all outside, we reserve the right to modify the start date and time of the event to ensure the safety of the competitors.

Changes in start time do not qualify for a refund

chip timing

Chip timing is not guaranteed. In the event we are unable to detect your chip, we have procedures in place to ensure your overall time is captured.
