The Hartfield Honey Run - 2026

Sun 15th November 2026

An animated bee character joyfully dances in a lush, green meadow in front of a scenic village. The village features a mix of cottages, leafy trees, and a church with a tall spire, all under a clear blue sky. Image showing various items from the Hartfield Honey Run event. In the center is an orange headband with "Morf" branding. Surrounding it are jars of honey, honey drizzlers, and wrapped packs of honey. Below are yellow, orange, and red ribbons labeled "Hartfield Honey Run - Half Marathon. A wooden bridge spans a small stream in a forested area with leaf-covered paths. Fences line both sides of the bridge, and trees with autumn foliage surround the scene. Two people walk in the background, and a signpost stands near the bridge. A weathered wooden sign reads: "Welcome to Pooh Bridge. Made famous by the A.A. Milne stories… maintained by East Sussex County Council." Instructions include avoiding damage, not disturbing wildlife, keeping dogs on leads, and taking litter home. Signs illustrate these rules. A scenic landscape with green shrubs in the foreground, a large tree with orange foliage in the middle, and a dense forest of green trees in the background under a partly cloudy sky. The area appears to be a mix of grassland and woodland. A group of runners participate in a race on a grassy hillside under a cloudy sky. The lead runner, focused and determined, is slightly ahead while the others follow along the marked trail. The landscape is lush and green with a backdrop of trees on the horizon. Two women jog along a forest trail. One wears colorful leggings and a bright pink jacket and cap, and the other wears a grey jacket with a matching hat. Both have race numbers pinned to their clothing. The path is lined with autumn foliage and tall trees. A person wearing a pink top and a race bib jogs carefully through a muddy, uneven forest trail. The ground is wet with large puddles and scattered leaves, and they are surrounded by dense greenery and bushes on both sides. A wide, green pasture with a simple wire fence running across it, under a partly cloudy sky. In the distance, there are trees with autumn-colored leaves and a small hill. The scene is serene and rural, with soft sunlight illuminating parts of the landscape. A serene countryside scene with horses grazing on a grassy meadow. Tall trees and sparse autumn foliage add to the tranquil atmosphere. The sky is overcast, and there is a small electrical box near the trees. A group of people stand in a circle on a tarp, only their legs and muddy shoes visible. Various types of athletic footwear, equally caked in mud, are laid out inside the circle. A purple container and a water bottle are on the ground.

It’s a banger of a half. Tough - hilly and muddy, but well organised and supported with good marshalling and super volunteers (Perryhill Tea Room for example) meaning your triumphal return can be celebrated with a decent bacon butty and tea and cake should the need arise. I loved the variety of terrain, very friendly fellow runners and the views, not forgetting to mention Pooh bridge. And the best medals - a pot of honey 🍯 and snood are so much better than a lump of metal. Also, the staggered start for half and 10km means you can car share and finish at roughly the same time. Now I have a feel for the course I’ll be back in 2026. Well done to the organising team and fellow runners 👏 👏👏👏

This is a really great course and well organised event! It was super fun with stunning Kentish scenery and lovely marshals. The challenging terrain added a good level of interest and challenge. It was also nice to come away with a small pot of honey and commemorative honey spoon rather than the usual clunky medal. Will definitely be doing this again!

A wonderful friendly event along a beautiful course, with few hills to keep it interesting. This was my first time taking part and I loved it, as did my little dog to joined me. Couldn't fault the organisation and the marshalls were all fabulous. We will be back next year.

What a fantastic well organised event! Very friendly atmosphere, the marshals were great, and a really lovely 'smaller' event to take part in. What a way to see the beautiful countryside. Thank you to everyone who helped. Jacquie PS the honey dipper was a lovely touch

Great 10km! Lovely people, interesting course, challenging but not too muddy and really well organised. Recommend the home made cakes too! See you next year...

Loved this run! So friendly, well organised and marshalled. I arrived early as my friend was running the half, and I'm glad I did lift share and park early as the village soon became tricky to navigate with all the parked cars. It was well manned though, just be prepared for it to take time. Loved the atmosphere, the refreshments, the simplicity of it all. Just a great event. I'll be back :)

This race is a gem! Fantastic race coordinators and volunteers, gorgeous scenery, challenging course and super fun overall experience. I came over from Florida to support my sister who was running to celebrate being cancer free. We were vey fortunate and grateful for dry trails and perfect weather. The little pot of honey at the end made all those miles worthwhile :)

Hugely enjoyable well-marked hilly run through beautiful countryside. Parking easy when we arrived. Very friendly HQ staff and marshals along the way, with delicious hot and cold snacks before and after the race. Water was provided in plastic bottles at aid stations, but empties very efficiently collected en route for recycling. Honey and twizzle at the finish greatly appreciated - went down very well with crumpets when we got home. One very minor quibble - a bottle neck at a single file corner near the start caused slight delay to runners and could have irritated those hoping to win if they weren't at the front of the pack at the start - it didn't bother us at all! Many thanks to the organisers - you even fixed the weather. We'll hope to be back next year.

A proper trail half marathon. A challenging course with hills to make you sweat and technical downhills. But after a dry couple of weeks and on a fairly mild and sunny November day, what could be better!? This run has something for all abilities. The course is tough enough to provide a challenge to the fittest runners. But if you want to take it more steadily, and enjoy the scenery, there are no better views in the South East than those from the top of Ashdown Forest. Even better if the pot of honey at the end was a local honey, rather than a little pot from Essex. I've nothing against the East Saxons per se, but Sussex Honey would make this more special.

Information prior to the event was good and although on the day it felt very low key it was well organised with helpful volunteers. I will say parking was VERY difficult as the organisers are aware of that for next year. The course was very muddy a lot of the course due to heavy rain and in places i felt it was dangerous coming steeply downhill. There is one steep hill section and some lovely scenery. On the whole it was a nice event and being old school i would of loved a medal for my hard work, but got a neck warmer and some honey! I would love to do this again with dry conditions and best i do some hill training as well.

The Hartfield honey run was a memorable running experience from the smiling welcome from the people doing registration at the beginning to the friendly and efficient people serving delicious refreshments at the end. Kind and cheerful marshalls along the way, an amusing and clear announcement at the beginning of the race and a well marked course. The scenery was beautiful, the course varied and interesting throughout. It was challenging, particularly across Ashdown Forest but that added to the sense of achievement at the end. We were lucky that it was dry, mild and sunny if rather squishy underfoot! It appealed to my two friends and I who prefer trail runs as the majority was off road. Totally absorbing and thoroughly enjoyable. Pots of honey and bright orange buffs at the end a novel reward. We even ran behind Tigger, Eyore and Piglet! Thank you for a fabulous race.

Great organisation and comms before the race. Great route and well marshalled throughout. Weather held out for the majority of the morning although the recent consistent rainfall made the course wet, muddy and in my opinion really fun. Highly recommended.

Fantastic route through beautiful countryside. Really well organised event. Also love that you get a buff rather than a medal and a little pit of honey at the end. Would highly recommend if you like trail running.

Had a great time at this run. The route had amazing scenery and was thoroughly enjoyable. Lots of hills and mud, made it a challenging but fun route. I was disappointed to have not got a finishers medal, personally would have preferred this above a headband. There was a few areas off the route that could have done with more signage or ribbons. Water station were plastic bottles which seemed wasteful, paper cups would have been more environmentally friendly and easier for runners to pick up and discard off. Overall had a great experience, special thanks to all the volunteers.
Hi. We're so glad you enjoyed our event. We will certainly take onboard your comments about the environmental impact of our aid stations, and the signage. Best wishes, The Honey Run Team

Awesome event. Pre- race and race day communications were first class. The route (I did the Half Marathon) was stunning - although do be advised it was challenging in terms of elevation and mud! Well worth the challenge though. The volunteers and marshalls were very friendly, helpful and supportive. And the refreshments stall in the main hall was great too. Only very very minor gripe (and I hate to post this as it really hasn't put me off the event at all) was that those of us who finished towards the end of the Half Marathon didn't get a buff. I presume they had run out? Appreciate its difficult to judge how many are needed (small events can't afford waste and leftovers, I get that 100%) and given this seems to be a relatively new race it possibly hasn't had time to gauge how many drop outs and entries on the day it will get. But at the end of the day it should be factored into the pricing with a bit of contingency to ensure everyone gets a buff (etc), and I also suggest you limit race day entries to that level limited by the number of buffs you have available? But please don't take this as negative griping. It's not. You have a wonderful event, I cannot recommend it highly enough, and we WILL be back next year.
Hi Danny, We are so glad that you had such a good time. We know that we got the logisitics of the buffs slightly wrong this year and will make amends. Best wishes, The Honey Run Team.

Fun event and well run. The 10k wasn’t all that varied from a trail point of view but still very enjoyable and nice little gifts at the end!

This was my first half marathon on trails, having previously done a few on flatish roads - and it was a delight! Such beautiful scenery, challenging hills (but not too tough) and really friendly people. I thought the marshalling and instruction sheet were good. Maybe one more marshal along the farm/estate road to reassure me I was on the right path would have been good. The goody bag was as expected and totally fine - the absence of a race T-shirt is actually a plus for me as I just feel guilty when I end up throwing them away; I love the buff (wish more goody bags had these!); and the honey was a nice touch :-) The tea and cake at the end was a real treat! Keep up the good work Hartfield Honey Run! I've already booked for this year! x
Hi Holly. Thank you so much for a lovely review. It really means the world to us. The 2023 event will be even better and we look forward to seeing you.

So after some highs and lows since the race and some belated conversations I have reviewed my review and updated.. The run was very challenging for a beginner and a first timer but looking back it gives great sense of satisfaction knowing I completed the half marathon, the views and area were amazing if not very soggy underfoot, the competitors as well were really friendly and supportive when things got tough, the Marshalls helpful though a few extra in key places would have helped as a number of us ended up in a field with no directions, only really marking down on the after race management as timings and places took weeks to come through after constant chasing and they are not exactly accurate but that can be improved, the goody bag was a little under whelming. The sun in places became tricky as running up the steeper inclines into the bright sun proved very tricky to a point you had to stop to be able see paths so if it's sunny bring sunglasses.. I'd run this again IF I'm still running next year
Hi Adam, Thank you for your review. We have communicated offline and will endeavour to improve upon the inaugural event. Congratulations on completing the course.

Lovely run, with amazing views and well marshalled! Disappointment in that it was 2020 medal , no T-shirt and lack of results/response from organisers for amount raised for charity !
Hi Olivia, and thank you for your review. As you probably know we did have some teething issues with this inaugural event but we have taken on everyone's constructive comments and look forward to a better event in 2023. We hope you can join us.

Positives first, Lovely course very challenging. That's it. A timed event sold, 3 weeks on and no times or results given, a 'charity event' no information given about money raised or donations given, 'goody bags' 2020 medals in, the promise of an event T shirt was missing and replaced with what can only be described as an exceptional cheap Chinese running muff that falls apart after one use. ... All this you could understand but the complete lack of response from the organisors after several attempts via the FB page, Instagram page and email by multiple attendees just screams scam rip off
Hi Adam, Thank you for your review and our apologies for disappointing you, which is completely understandable. This was our inaugural event with four distances and although the marshalling was very good and our volunteers were excellent on the day, our three organisers had not anticipated the work involved both before, during, and after the event. The whole event was run on a voluntary basis and, because we had no idea of how many people would enter, we were too conservative with our budget and re-used items such as the medals from a previously Covid-cancelled event. The event was generally well-received, but next year there will be new medals, better merchandise, and better timing.

This was my first half-marathon and the course did not disappoint. The undulating trail through the beautiful countryside was perfectly waymarked and manned by really friendly marshals. I thoroughly enjoyed the race and would strongly recommend it.
Thank you, Lam. Your feedback is much appreciated.

A very friendly event with a good HQ with changing space and a shower available. Good food and drink selection. Excellent that the money raised funds admirable local charities. Course was a tough one as advertised, hilly, very wet underfoot, with muddy bits and some technical stuff, such as descents through gullies. Could have been better signposted (or marshalled) - at one point early on, all the 10k leaders turned right (signposted), but into a farmyard, instead of what they should have done - gone through a very small gap in a hedge to run across a field. Disappointing that, four days later, the results have still to be posted.
Hi Simon. Thank you for your feedback, which is taken onboard. That signage problem was a known issue and a difficult one to signpost. Next year we plan to marshal that area.

A well organised event which had a lovely feel to it. Small event in the lovely village of Hartfield. On the Half Marathon route, Marshalls handed out water around the course and were there to provide assistance if needed. A very muddy and quite hilly course, but great fun! Could be difficult to park if the event gets busier.
Hi Lauren and thank you for your feedback, which is much appreciated. If we are guaranteed a fuller field, we have the possibility of a dedicated parking field.

I ran the half marathon distance and loved it. Muddy fields and paths, prolonged 6% ascents, and a little local tourism thrown in. Sunshine and vistas over the Ashdown Forest, friendly marshals and volunteers; everything I like in a cross-country course. I’m sure I’ll be back in 2023! I might suggest no need for medals in future, but I understand they are important to some. The buff was a nice touch - it's a better design and fit than many I've purchased so will be wearing it with pride.
Thanks, Michael. We're glad you enjoyed the event.

Challenging cross country course. Challenging ascents, reasonably technical descents, muddy fields, tree roots, and stiles. Brilliantly organised, friendly volunteers, great food and drink. Only reason I dropped one star was the medals were disappointing (said 2020) and the constant mention of a T-shirt in the marketing was misleading since there wasn’t one! I’ve already put it on the calendar for 2023!
Hi Pippa, Thank you for your wonderful review; it means so much to us. I'm sorry about the medals and t-shirts (although buffs were given to half marathoners). To avoid waste we reused the cancelled 2020 medals but rest assured that next year we will have new medals. Best wishes, The Hartfield Honey Run team
