This unique event offers two thrilling options for adventure enthusiasts: the Unknown and the Known. The Unknown invites participants to test their navigation skills with a mysterious route starting at approximately 10 miles, where you'll face a strict 3.5-hour cut-off to reach a refuel checkpoint. If you dare to continue, stages 2, 3, and even 4 will keep you guessing about the distance until you cross the finish line, with a total cut-off of 15 hours. For those who prefer a more predictable challenge, the Known option provides a complete route and GPX file, ensuring you know the distance but with a promise to keep the details under wraps. Whichever option you choose, prepare for an unforgettable day of adventure and camaraderie amidst the breathtaking scenery of Lancashire's fells!
Organiser's Description
Two options for this event, which starts and finishes at the Beacon Fell Country Park, Preston. You must be confident on the fells and be happy to use a map and self navigate.
Option 1 - The Unknown: You will be given Stage 1 of your race, which is 10 miles ish long. You will have a strict cut off (3.5hrs) to reach the refuel check point, where you can stop if you wish. If you decide to continue, you will be given the Stage 2 route. There's a 15 hour cut off for this event. You will not be told when the event finishes. You will only know when you cross the finish line. You will not know how far Stages 2 and 3 are..or even 4!
Option 2 - The Known: if you don't like the sound of the unknown, you can enter as a standard ultra. You will be given the total distance and GPX of route in its entirety. NB: you are sworn to secrecy!
