2014 was a very special year for the County of Essex, and for all who cycle in her, as the third stage of the Tour de France headed along many of its wonderfully bike-friendly roads. The Tour d' Essex features a 42, 72, and 110 mile choice of routes that utilise many of those same spectacular roads. The Tour had a huge effect on this area of countryside, as many roads were updated to accommodate the peloton, and these immaculate surfaces will get your wheels spinning, making for an impressive average speed.
