Back to School
The kids are going back to school and summer's winding down, which makes now a good time to set yourself a new goal. Every event here is between five and 12 weeks away, so there's time to get some training in before you head to the start line.
1 / The Autumn Lucky Dip Run
This one lets you set your own goal, which suits a back-to-school reset. It's a seven-hour time challenge along the Thames where you pick the distance and run as many laps as you like. Try a 3k if you're easing back in, or a half or marathon if you're not.
2 / The Meadows 5k/10k - September 2026
A 5k or 10k is a good place to start if you're building your fitness back up. This flat, fast course on the tree-lined paths of the Meadows, right in the heart of Edinburgh, is great for a first finish or a quicker time, depending on your goal.
3 / The Cardiff 1.5k, 5k, 10k & Half Marathon MoRun
MoRun events are held in cities across the country through November in support of Movember, the men's health charity. Pick from a 1.5k for the kids, a 5k, a 10k or a half marathon. The Cardiff date is 1 November, a good goal to train towards.
4 / Fulham 10K
A 10k is a solid autumn target, and this one is built for a fast time. The road-closed route starts and finishes at Eel Brook Common, passing Stamford Bridge, home of Chelsea FC, then down the long stretches of Munster Road and Fulham Road.
5 / Run Bournemouth
Run Bournemouth gives you plenty of options, whatever your fitness level. There's a flat, fast half marathon and a 10k along the seafront, junior races for the kids, and the Supernova 5k, a night run along the promenade in head torches and fluorescent kit.
6 / Sunderland 10k
This 10k gives you a coastal target to train for, running along Sunderland's Roker Seafront. It's a flat out-and-back from Roker Beach, finishing with a lap of Roker Park. With few hills to slow you down, it's a good shot at a late-autumn PB.
