Organiser's Description

CANCELLED - Unfortunately the event organiser has had to cancel this event.

Pack up your bucket and spade as well as your swim, bike and run gear for the third running of the event that is already becoming one of the most popular triathlons on the East coast of Britain.

You have the choice of a Sprint, Standard or the 100km Centurion distance, as raced by the pros in the PTO series.
All the events begin with a beach start and multiple laps of a 250m sea swim, complete with an Australian-style exit at the end of each lap and a short run before re-entering the water. The cycle heads North along the coast before heading inland to ride round the surrounding countryside before returning to to the seafront for a multi-lap run leg on the promenade, ideal for the support of cheering spectators.

For those who wish to team up with others to complete a discipline each, there is a Centurion relay, and for those who don’t want to tackle a run, there is a Centurion swim-bike Aquabike race.

The event distances are as follows:
Sprint triathlon- 500m swim, 21km bike and a 5km run.
Standard triathlon – 1000m swim, 38km bike and a 10km run
Centurion triathlon & relay – 1000m swim, 84km bike and a 15km run
Centurion aquabike – 1000m swim, 84km bike

Please note that the swim is in the sea and will be more challenging than a typical open water or pool swim. Wetsuits are recommended subject to British Triathlon temperature restrictions (the sea is very unlikely to be too hot for wetsuits to be allowed).

Although we aren’t putting a time limit on the course, this bike course will include a managed junction as the route leaves town. This junction will allow athletes an unobstructed ride through for up to 45 minutes after the leader has passed. Any athletes more than 45 minutes behind the leader at this point (only a few km in to the bike) will be allowed to continue, but have to obey the traffic lights at this junction. On the way back into town this junction does not affect the route.
