Britain’s Bravest Military Challenge - Sefton Park

Sefton Park, Liverpool

Sefton Park, Liverpool L17 1AP

Sat 28th September 2019

Starting at 09:00

Organiser's Description

Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) has joined forces with Be Military Fit (BMF) and Bear Grylls to to create the most authentic military experience possible. Britain’s Bravest Military Challenge is a mass participation event which will take place at 20 locations around the UK on Saturday 28 September 2019. This is an event like no other, it will push you to be the best you can be!

This authentic and immersive military experience has been designed by military leaders. You’ll simulate the move into battle, carrying equipment and moving in teams with a 1-2 km run to the main exercise area. Then the rigours of battle will be simulated with a high intensity military circuit, including shuttle runs, casualty carries and equipment carries. Finally, a rapid move away from the battle area will incorporate a casualty evacuation, a team focused element with stretcher carries and log runs.

For all levels of abilities. Enter as a group or as an individual. Each recruit is asked to raise just £100 to celebrate 100 years of RBLI, which will go toward supporting our most vulnerable veterans.

What is Britain's Bravest Military Challenge?Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) have joined forces with Be Military Fit (BMF) and Bear Grylls to create an authentic military experience. You will be competing in teams, led by military leaders, whilst carrying equipment, undertaking exercises and there will be some running. This is a tough challenge, but you work together.

Britain's Bravest Military Challenge is perfect for individuals who want to test their limits, and teams who want to come out stronger than ever. Your military instructors will be ready to put recruits through their paces, it's full of fun and accessible for all levels of fitness. This is not one to be missed and at the same time you'll be helping some of the most vulnerable veterans by raising money for RBLI.

Is this another mud run or obstacle course This isn't a spa morning, there's no need for a mud bath. You won't be climbing obstacles, you'll be carrying them, just like the real thing.

How long is the Britain's Bravest Military Chlennege course? It depends on your location but Britain's Bravest Military Course is usually a 1km - 2km loop around your chosen park. How long will it take? The event will last between 1 hour - 1 hour 30 minutes.

Is there a limited number of places per location? Yes. I am afraid so. It's 100 places per location and once these places have gone that is it. We encourage anyone (including BMF members) to sign up as soon as possible to guarantee their place.

Will there be an event village? This challenge has no frills, come prepared with everything you need because there won't be food vendors, a DJ or cheerleaders, it isn't a picnic, you are undertaking a military exercise so roll up your sleeves and be prepared to give your all.

How much running is there? That depends on your location and how nice you've been to your instructor. Britain's Bravest Military is a 1-2km loop, depending on the event location.

Can you do Britain's Bravest Military Challenge alone, do I need a team? You’ll need help from your fellow team members to complete the challenge, but you DON’T need a team to register for a Britain's Bravest Military Challenge event.

How do i join a team? If you want to take part at the same time as your friends, family or work colleagues you can sign up as a team (minimum of 4 people and maximum of 10 people) and you will receive a 20% discount per person, using the code TEAM20.

How many people are there in a team? There are usually 10 people in a team. Don't worry if you are taking part on your own or in a smaller group, the instructor will ensure you join a team on the day.

Do i have to raise £100 and is it per person? Yes it is £100 per person. The money raised from this event will be used to transform lives of veterans and their families, we really need your support so that we can continue to offer this life changing care. The link to create a JustGiving page can be found in your welcome email.

Will I receive any help along the way? Fundraising may seem daunting at first, but it’s actually a lot easier and a lot more fun than you’d think. There are always plenty of people who want to reward your bravery and help us improve lives, and we’ll be with you throughout your journey to give advice, offer fundraising tips and answer any questions. We have given you lots of ideas and tools in our fundraising area, when you sign up, take a look for inspiration and choose something that works for you! For any help or questions email [email protected]

Will there be food and water on the course? There won't be water available so please ensure you bring your own.

Are dogs allowed? Dogs are allowed at each location with spectators, however please make sure you keep your dog on a lead and supervised at all times and make sure you clean up after it.

Is there somewhere Ican store my bag? We would advise only bringing what is necessary for your challenge. There will be a registration point which will be manned however we unfortunately cannot take responsibility for anyone's belongings.

What should I brng to a Britain's Bravest Military Challenge? Your ticket (printed or screenshot) Bottle of water What should i wear? We would recommend wearing sports clothes and trainers. As part of the registration, you'll receive your Britain's Bravest Military Challenge t-shirt. When will I receive my Britain's Bravest Military T-shirt? You will be given your t-shirt on the morning of the event when you sign in.

I was to transfer, how do I do this? Please email [email protected] if you would like to transfer to another Britain's Bravest Military Challenge.

Can I bring family and friends to support? Yes please do.

Where does my fundraising go? Your fundraising will go toward growing our village, expanding our services and supporting the most vulnerable veterans and their families to find their purpose again.

What does RBLI do? We offer accommodation, welfare support and convalescent care to more than 300 people in the RBLI Village in Aylesford, providing independent living in a safe and caring environment. We also offer a personalised support programme STEP-IN that assesses each individual’s needs and circumstances, for example PTSD and homelessness. Our team ensure that they receive bespoke support best placed to aid their development. This year we are hoping to expand our village further with a new phase in our Centenary Village so that we can support more veterans.

Britain’s Bravest Manufacturing Company is our social enterprise which directly employs over 100 people, more than 70% of whom are veterans, disabled or both. It offers a safe and inclusive working environment with a focus on ensuring our employees have a role which suits them and their needs. RBLI’s latest social enterprise Scotland's Bravest Manufacturing Company offers employment and volunteering roles, as well as training, manufacturing, fulfilment and printing disciplines to veterans and those with disabilities who have found themselves in a period of long-term unemployment. Scotland's Bravest Manufacturing Company produces road and rail signs, print and mail, fulfilment and bespoke engineering services to the private and public sector.

Our RBLI Employment Solutions division provides support to those who are long-term unemployed, have disabilities or health conditions, helping people stay in work and gain the skills they need to gain employment. We have 12 Community Hubs around Kent and Sussex where our team focus on CV advice, interview preparation and job searching.
