Organiser's Description

This Royal Marines Charity PRMC (Potential Royal Marines Course) Challenge is open to anyone, from any walk of life, over 18 years of age. Whether you are doing this Challenge for fun, for team building, or as a heads up for the real deal, all money raised is going to the Royal Marines Charity and the event is being manned BY Royal Marines FOR Royal Marines.

The Challenge will give you an indication of what to expect if you were to attend a PRMC. It is being run by Royal Marines PTIs and it will give you a taste of the Course, without the pressure. And if you are considering a career in the military, you will be able to gauge your current fitness level.

You will go head to head over 5 stations which follow the training and ethos of the Royal Marines. We won't kill you - it is just a bit of fun! You can enter as a team, or if you're desperate to have a go but can't get anyone to join you, then don't worry ..... sign up individually and we will make up teams on the day.

Runners' info

This event is all about raising money for The Royal Marines Charity and the most important thing is we want you all to enjoy yourselves and have a great time. You will not be screamed at as this is not our way, you will be directed. On the PRMC (the Potential Royal Marines Course) we expect everyone to give 110% in absolutely everything, but this is because they are choosing a career in the Royal Marines. We want you to have a taste of what the PRMC is like, but without that pressure. That said ….go as hard as you like!

Right, let’s give you a run down on what you need to be doing:

PRINT OFF YOUR TICKET – you will need to bring it with you to register and get free parking!

JUSTGIVING / SPONSORSHIP MONEY – Please don’t forget to bring a copy of your JUSTGIVING PAGE or your sponsorship money, you all should bring a minimum of £25 per person (but try your best to smash that), which needs to be handed in at REGISTRATION. The top fundraiser will be given a goody bag and RM Hoody at the end of the day.

SATNAV - The address for the Nailsea and Blackwell Ruby Club is West End Park, West End, Nailsea BS48 4BY.

CAR SHARE – Parking is at a premium and spectators will need to pay per car – recommended donation is £5.00 – however, this is the only fee they will need to pay as spectating is free. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON ANY SURROUNDING ROADS AS THEY ARE FOR RESIDENTS ONLY!

REGISTRATION – Every member of the team must go to the registration area. You will also hand in all your fundraising at this point.

BIBS & NUMBERS – VERY IMPORTANT You will all be issued with bibs and numbers at Registration, please check the team sheet and back of the number as they are named individually, and you need to wear your own bib number.

BAGGAGE AREA – There is a baggage area, but you will leave everything at your own risk. Please leave your valuables locked in your car.

WAIVERS – At registration you will be asked to sign your disclaimer again, so we have a physical signature on your form, you will also be asked to sign a contact form to say whether you are happy to be contacted by the Royal Marines and the Royal Marines Charity.

T-SHIRTS – Event T-Shirts can be bought at the Registration Point for £15 and if they have already been paid for they will be handed out with your Team Information Packs.

Once registered you are free to wander around, have a chat to the Royal Marines and familiarise yourself with the stations. PLEASE DO NOT GO ONTO THE STATIONS UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO. There is information in your registration pack detailing the tasks on each station, it might be worth looking, so you know what you’re going to be getting up to.

Registration – 09:30am – 11:15am

WARM UP - 11:40

TEAMS to Stations 11:55

THE WAY THE CHALLENGE WORKS – There are 4 teams on a station (Blue, Yellow, Green, Red) and there are 5 stations. All stations start at 12 noon. You have 1 hour to complete the challenges on each station before the air horn sounds and you move on to the next. The quicker you complete the station the moire rest time you get before the air horn sounds (hourly). On some stations you will have 2 challenges, they could be physical, a team challenge or a mental challenge.

SCORING - Although you are in teams you will be scored in most aspects individually. The person with the best scores at the end will also win an RM Goody Bag.

DON’T FORGET:

  • ENTRY TICKET
  • JUSTGIVING PAGE OR SPONSOR MONEY

TRAINING AND TUTORIAL VIDEOS – The training and tutorial videos are actually a very small element of what you will be doing on the day. The Push Ups, Sit Ups and Pull Ups are all on Station 1, so don’t worry about it if you’re not smashing out maximum reps. Just do your best and step out when you’re done.

FINALLY – Thank you for signing up for this challenge. Tickets are transferrable, so if your team has changed in any way, please let us know by email so we can amend the team sheets before the day. Likewise, if you have non-attenders, it is imperative that you let us know asap.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Keep sharing the page, we have plenty of spaces free so let people know what you’re doing and let’s get some more signed up.

Thank you so much and we look forward to seeing you on the day.
