Organiser's Description

Run Sandringham 24 is a trail running race against the clock, to take on as many laps of a 5 mile course around the Royal Estate and Parkland as you can in 24 hours.

A festival of running with a distance for everyone.

As a Solo, Pair or Team Runner, Take on our 5 mile course set within the stunning Royal Sandringham Estate, the Winter Retreat of the Royal Family.

The 5 mile course takes in all areas of the Estate, including the Royal Parkland, to ensure that you see all of the areas of this stunning venue in West Norfolk.

You will get the full running festival experience onsite - running for 24 hours, a free kids race on Friday night, Camping available from Friday - Sunday, fully stocked pitstops en route, music, event village and onsite parking.

Free parking is available, within five minute walk of event village

Course Details

Mainly flat with a couple of areas of undulation - based exclusively within the Royal Estate and Royal Parkland

age restrictions

Entrants must be 21 years or over on event day if entering as a 24 hour Solo runner, or 18 years or over if entering as a Pair / Team runner.

However if you are under 20 years of age, you are permitted to enter as a Solo runner, by run a maximum of 27 miles.

start / finish

With a Race Village, Start and Finish based within the Sandringham Estate, the crowds will be out in force to create a super atmosphere and provide lots of enthusiastic support for all those taking part throughout the weekend.

Passing through the finish within the grounds of Sandringham Estate you'll collect your water and your finishers goody bag with a medal to showcase your achievement.

The event hub will be buzzing with lots of post-race facilities, along with food and drink facilities, Ice Cream, DJ / Live Music, Sports Massage and much more, making it a great place to celebrate your achievement with family and friends.

12.00 – Event and Campsite opens (please read the camping and site rules carefully - to be supplied in the event guide).

12.00 – The Sandringham24 route is open for a recce

12.00 – Catering and Bars open in the race village

16.00 – Registration opens in the race village

18.30 – Registration closes until Saturday morning

19.30 – Entertainment in Event Village

22.00 – Catering closes, bars will close around 22.30

22.30 – Entertainment stops, Quiet time on Campsite begins (bedtime!!)

Saturday

07:30 - Catering opens (tbc, and remains open until Sunday 2.00pm).

09.00 – Registration opens in Event Village

10.00 - Mini kid’s race, meet at the start/finish line (It’s free, Register on the entry page to be released shortly)

11.30 – Registration closes

11.45 – Call to the start & race briefing

12.00 – 24 hour Race starts

19.30 – Torches to be carried by all runners (mandatory - must be worn on either head, hand or chest)

20.15 – Sunset

22:30 - Quiet time on Campsite begins

Sunday

05.30 – First light (best time to run)

05:50 - Sunrise

06.30 – Runners may stop using head torches

11.00 – Warnings regarding last lap are issued by event MC

11.59 – Runners may start a final lap before 11.59.59 and these will count in your results (there is a one hour time limit for final lap to be completed)

12.00 – Course closed at the exchange area to prevent any further laps (denoted by PA announcement and air horns)

13.00 – Final runners cross the finish line in Event Village

16.00 – Campsite closes.

CAMPING

Camping is based onsite immediately next to the Event Village, and a short walk from the event Car Park. By registering for camping, you agree to our Camping Terms and Conditions.

Whilst camping onsite, please endure that you and your team adhere to the allocations for pitch sizes, which are as follows:

Solos - 1 small tent

Pairs - 2 small tents OR 1 medium tent

Teams of 3 - 2 small tents OR 1 medium tent

Teams of 4 - 2 small tents OR 1 medium tent

Teams of 5 - 3 small tents OR 2 x medium tent OR 1 large tent

Teams of 6 - 3 small tents OR 2 medium tents OR 1 large tent

Teams of 7 - 4 small tents OR 3 medium tents OR 2 large tents

Teams of 8 - 4 small tents OR 3 medium tents OR 2 large tents

Please consider your fellow runners when setting up camp to ensure there is enough space for everyone, and to this end, please ensure any team gazebos are a maximum of 3 x 3m in size, and setup as close to your tent as possible, to ensure valuable camping space is kept for everyone.

Is the race officially timed?

Official times will be provided by our timing company on the day, with updates available from the Timing tent in the Event village.

These will also be posted on social media and linked in our post race email to you.

How old do I have to be to run?

All participants must be 18 years or older for the main 24 hour race on Saturday and Sunday. Participants must be 4 years or older for the Kids Race on Friday evening, and all under 16s must be accompanied by an adult on the course. If aged between 18 and 21, you are limited to a maximum distance of 27 miles as per UKA and race rules.

Is there a cut-off time?

The last lap of the 24 hour event will begin at 11:59:59AM on Sunday morning. After this time, no more laps may begin - but if you began a lap at or before that time, you will be able to complete the lap.

Is there a medal for finishers?

Yes! We have a Run Sandringham medal for all finishers in every distance, as well as engraved Momentos for each 100 mile+ Solo runner.

What time does the race start?

The kids race will begin at 6:30PM on Friday.

The 24 hour race will begin at 12:00PM on Saturday.

What are the dates of the races?

The Kids race will take place on Friday 18th August 2022.

The 24 hour event will take place on Saturday 19th August and Sunday 20th August 2022.

Where does the race start?

The race starts and finishes within the Sandringham Estate, Sandringham. The Estate is easily reached by Car, and Bicycle.

Is there a map of the course?

Absolutely - a map of each distance will be posted shortly on the distance specific race pages.

What entertainment is available at the event?

More details will be posted on this closer to the event - but expect music, food and drink and more!

Can I run with my dog?

Unfortunately, running with dogs is not allowed.

Can I bring my dog to the event village?

Dogs are permitted on leads within the event village and country park. They are unfortunately not permitted on the route, or in Gardens, Museum and House. Parts of the Sandringham shop and Onsite Cafe are dog friendly also. We ask that attendees be responsible dog owners and clear up after their dogs within all areas of the event.

Can I run with headphones?

Bone conducting headphones are allowed, but in ear headphones of all types are banned from this race

Who are the event organisers?

The event is organised by Good Running Events Ltd.

Am I able to transfer / defer my place?

Please check the registration pages for specific details about deadlines for transfers and deferrals. No transfers or deferrals will be accepted after the advertised date/time.

Are there toilet facilities available at the event?

Yes - there are ample toilet facilities available to use in the event village, camping area, as well as on course at the feed station, and based at the main Visitor Centre at Sandringham Estate, which the route passes by, and are signed. Further details on the location of Toilet facilities are contained within the Event Guide.

Are there water stations on route?

Yes - there is a water / feed station available approximately halfway through the 5 mile lap.

Can I run the route in advance of race day?

The Royal Parkland is open for visitors (please refer to the Sandringham Estate website for opening hours). Further details about route recce will be available in the Event Guide, to be released in Summer 2024

event facilities

1. Toilets – based within the event village, on the race route, as well as permanent facilities based at the Sandringham Estate Visitor Centre (adjcaent to the coffee shop and ticket office).

2. Race Registration – based centrally within the event village.

3. Event Village – playing host to food and drink partners, entertainment, including a local band, warm up area, as well as some of our partner charities, and more.

4. Massage – available for advice and tips pre-event, and that all important rub down once you’ve finished.

5. Goody bags – a goody bag awaits each finisher. Please note medals will be presented to you separately in the finish area.

6. Friends & family meeting point – be sure to agree a place to meet beforehand. The event village will be buzzing on the day - and there will be a designated meeting point sign should you wish to use this.

7. Catering and Bar - based within the Event Village

8. Bell Tent Hire - we are delighted to be offering Bell Tent upgrades within the Event Village, in partnership with Creative Canopy Hire. You can view more details by CLICKING HERE

9. Sports Massage - Sports massage therapists will be on-site from lunchtime on Friday and available for treatments Friday afternoon. We will be available from 9:00 Saturday onwards, throughout the 24-hour race, providing pre, during and post event treatments and we can also provide taping services.

Standard treatments will be £15 for 15 minutes, longer treatments are available on request. Payment can be taken by cash or card.

You don’t have to be a runner to receive a massage, all are welcome and we look forward to meeting you all.
