Organiser's Description

JOIN US FOR A BEAUTIFULLY FLAT TRAIL RUN IN THE SCENIC SALCEY FOREST ON SUNDAY 6TH NOVEMBER 2022

The majestic Salcey Forest is a former medieval hunting forest nestled in the Northamptonshire countryside. This magnificent woodland has many miles of ancient wood banks, building remains and ancient trees. The ‘druids’, or veteran oaks, are rare and amazing wildlife habitats, and some of the old oaks are over 600 years old. What better place to hunt down a great run!

The run takes place on a 5km loop of prepared trails that wind gently through the woods.

You have a choice of a 5, 10, 15 or 20km distance to tackle. All the distances use a 5km loop so there is plenty of opportunity for your supporters to cheer you on.

The Salcey Trail run yesterday had a great atmosphere in spite of its serene environment, low key but friendly, the organisers were so nice and the volunteers were awesome. I did the 5km as just returning to running and carrying injuries but 8 would love to do more (there are other distances up to 20k) because the route through the forest is gorgeous. Even at this time of year and after rain the going was good. There was a slight undulation in parts which added interest and was so gentle as to still be enjoyable. The duathlon was going on at the same time but it was so well organised that you could barely tell. No chaos here! :) Even the goodies at the end were nice!! I love this event and hope to come back in December. Well done and thank you to all involved in its organisation.
